The AL391 is the replacement built for the Beretta 390, which they no longer make. It is a 12-gauge shotgun and mine has a twenty-six-inch barrel. It has a three round capacity in the mag, obviously its semi-auto. I’ve shot quite a few different semi-autos. I have shot quite a few semi-Remington’s and even shot a couple of Bellini’s here and there, but I’ve now had the pleasure of taking this thing out a couple of times. I have taken it out for a duck hunt and to the range and put hundreds of rounds through it. I can say without a doubt in my opinion; this is the smoothest shooting semi-auto 12 gauge I’ve ever shot. This thing just shoots wonderfully. The recoil management is perfect, this thing is lightweight and even with its lightweight the recoil is much less than that of let’s say Remington 1100 or even a Bellini. It’s very well put together.

This particular Beretta you can get in a few different styles. Here are the different models you can get:

  • AL391 Urika: The standard model, available with a variety of features and finishes.
  • AL391 Teknys: A more upscale version of the Urika. It has a upgraded finishing and fancier engraving.
  • A391 Xtrema: It is Designed for hunting waterfowl. The Xtrema accepts shells up to 3½-inch magnums and has been produced in 12 gauge only.

You’ve got seven different adjustments that come with it. So, whether you are a big guy or just a gentleman of a smaller stature, this gun can be adjusted to fit you.  A new one sells for around I think about $1,000, or maybe $1,100. I think you could find a used one of these for around $700-$800 range.

I have actually taken this thing apart, because I cleaned it up after a shoot at the range. It is very easy to break down and clean like all Beretta’s. The gun is really well put together. So, you can pack it full of dirt, mud, leaves and grass and anything else you might run into, if you’re out shooting and it’s still going to run.

I’ve shot hundreds of rounds with this gun and never a single issue. The gas system works great. The recoil system is fantastic. It’s just a beautiful and reliable shotgun. So, I had to write about it. The Beretta AL391 is a great shotgun if you can afford it. It is definitely something I would recommend.
