East Side Lodge out of Cairo, Illinois is new on the map for this season, but they are sure to fulfill any waterfowl dreams you might have for the year. Ran by Michael Saxton and Cade Anglin, this newly purchased land reaches just over 1200 acres, including a southern border along the Ohio River, making it a prime hunting location.

“We have the Ohio River on one side and sanctuaries on three other sides. We are at a location to where we have ducks coming to us from every direction,” Saxton said. They are also located in the densest area for banded ducks. In addition to their 1200 acres in one section, they have five duck habitats, a flooded corn hole, and a 25 acre Cyprus break, just to name a few. While this is the first year East Side Lodge is in operation, the company has a large vision for expanding and updating the lodge, as well as providing a greater habitat for wildlife on the land. “We want to provide a habitat for these animals year round. Providing that is key to us,” Saxton said.

Their duck blinds currently hold 12 men and are hoping to expand their number of larger blinds within the next few years. Along with breakfast in the blind, they also bring along a videographer on each hunt to make you can have that memory to watch again for years to come. Not only do the men have several years of experience as guides, they also want to make the experience a personable and memorable one to make sure you want to come back for the next season.

“My passion shifted from being the one killing the ducks to being the one to take you out there and make sure you have the best experience you can. I love seeing the satisfaction on their faces. We want to cater to our clientele and make it the very best experience they can have,” Saxton said.
The Lodge currently offers duck, deer, and turkey hunts. More information on pricing and booking a hunt is available at:
