“4 of us drove to North Dakota this year, went mid October right after pheasant opened. Ducks were initially slow due to a warm front but we hunted 7 days and were very successful on pheasants and ducks. It was much different from hunting a South Dakota as all of our pheasants were flushed from heavily wooded strips or small thickets bordering a food source. This was my first year to make the trip, although 2 of the guys have been going up for several years and have built a rapport with the locals, I found the people to be extremely nice there and only one landowner told us we could not hunt.” Medic11
“I went with an outfitter about 30 minutes south of mitchell last year. 4 of us went and the longest we hunted was 1.5-2hrs before we had our limit every day. Several of us going back this year. There was some good info listed in the above link for some freelance info on pheasants.” Duckhntn

Last time I was there he was getting 125 per gun per day. First day, we had 15 guys in our group and limited on wild birds in 45 minutes. He has lots of private ground with lots of food and cover. Stay at the best western in chamberlain sd. Eat at Al’s oasis as many meals as you can. Use the bird processor russ suggests
If you want a nice mounted bird go to Marie’s taxidermy very very cheap and good work”- Lipsplitter
“No need to spend big bucks to shoot pheasants unless that’s just what you want to do. Go to Kansas or where ever.. Drive around the public land early in the morning and everytime you get to a low spot/draw in the road where the pheasants are pecking around…mark it.. The next morning, check which ones put the wind in Your face. Go to them and start walking Into the wind. Works like a charm. I done this for years and ate pheasant every night. Pretty easy DIY hunting”- Ch36
