One of the best things about being an outdoorsman is the comradery that ignites between the people around you. I am a firm believer that the best stories are made and often times retold at hunting camp. There is always the cliché groups of guys such as the veterans, the crazy rednecks, the kids and of course the camp “chef.” Each individual holds down their own piece of ground within a camp and when you enter their circle it is best you just sit back and listen because under no circumstance will you ever have a story or recipe greater than theirs. This is the type of atmosphere that thousands of outdoorsmen have enjoyed for centuries however now the rise in social media has started to play a role in the outdoor world and certain pages or groups have become arguably more entertaining than any campfire chat.

We had the honor this week to have the creator of the Facebook page Mississippi Turkey Hunters join us as guest co-host in the On The X podcast, Mr. Jamie Puckett. I honestly don’t think I have laughed that much in a podcast since it began over six months ago. Now don’t  get me wrong, there is some serious turkey  knowledge shared in the podcast, but if you want to laugh and I mean laugh a lot then I suggest giving this one a listen.

On a different note season has finally graced us with its presence here in our home state of Mississippi and although the weather may not have been ideal for some there was definitely a good many people headed home with a turkey over their shoulder on opening day. The rest of the week looks great and the weekend even better so if you have the chance I would urge you to get out and enjoy what the spring woods has to offer!
