Spring Those Kids Outdoors

Kids are one of the greatest things God created. They bring more fun and laughter to our lives than just about anything. When I was a kid I was fortunate to be introduced to the outdoors by family members and now having a child of my own I look for every opportunity possible to get him outdoors.

I know in my article last week I stated that spring is one of the greatest times to get the family, especially kids, involved in the outdoors. I stand behind that statement every single day. I know that kids tend to move too much or talk to loud. They have what seems like a million questions to ask every time you take them somewhere and they are never on time. But don’t let any of that discourage you from taking them with you to scout for turkeys or even hunt them this spring. The spring woods are filled with sights, sounds, and smells that only come around once a year and there is no reason on earth to not expose your children to it. I understand that some kids will not like the early mornings and mosquitoes. Heck I don’t like them much myself. However as an outdoorsman I know the importance of passing down our heritage to our youth because someone did it for me. You never really know what a kid will enjoy until you expose them to it and hearing a turkey gobble might just be the reason they want to spend every Saturday from now on with you instead of playing video games!
