Training 1 or 2 Dogs.

I have got 2 puppies that I'm going to train. Is there any advantage to training 2 dogs at one time. Or is it best to just sell one pup and put all my efforts to train one dog. This will be my first time to train my own duck dog. I need some advice and help on what to do. If you say i should just concentrate on 1 dog I need to get rid of the second puppy before my wife gets attached. Thanks for any info.

theres no advantage for someone starting off to train 2 at one time... and very easy for it to be a problem, dogs bonding with each other instead of you. First time around, stack odds in your favor, and choose the one you like best and sell the other one. travis

+1 on that. I had litter mates for about a year and a half. Not a good idea!

Experienced trainers can train pups from the same litter but there are a lot of negatives for the novice.
You may fall in the trap of comparing them to each other. They will progress differently and this does not make one better or worse than the other.
They will definitely bond to each other and not to you unless you can keep them physically separated.
Since your first time, you have the opp. to screw up 2 instead of 1.

You have heard some of the negatives. I will say you can do it if you want. I did. Make sure you at least get some help. A training group or at least another person to help. One is definitely easier

i am training my first dogs and have two male littermates.
they def progress at different speeds and have different quirks.
some things one gets easily and some the other gets it quicker.
one shines in yard work and likes to learn the other likes filed work and hustles more soooo.....
