Stolen deer cam film from private property
Stolen deer cam film from private property
I posted this on another site, but would like your opinion, too. My neighbor/accomplice stole ONLY the film from my deer cam, then disconnected the battery. However, I had a SECOND deer cam, focused on the deer crossing in a hidden area, and the crime was totally captured on film. I sent word that I had the incriminating evidence, but have heard nothing. Unless, I at least, get an apology, I fully intend to press charges for BOTH trespassing, as well as, theft of private property. It's going to make the newspapers, when the identity in the picture is revealed!!! Just wondered, what you guys would do?

Get em!!!! NOw!!! If they will steel your film they will steal other stuff. WHO WAS IT? HELL, YOU JUST GOT TO TELL US!!! Actually I dont know why somebody would just steal your film. Hell if somebody was going to be out in the woods stealing they would have just got your whole camera. But who was it???
The answer is real simple. Prosecute him for trespassing...to heck with the film. There is only one way to nip this kind of crap in the bud and that's it in my opinion. I have been dealing with poachers and trespassers for years in Leake and Issaquena counties. I took the nice approach with the folks in the delta and it took years for them to get the message. I took a more agressive approach with the folks in the hills and it stopped immediately.
What's your's is your's. You shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap on private land. End of story.

run me out in the cold rain and snow
if you choose to press charges against the indivdual, you need to go to your county Justice Court and sign a sworn affadavit against him for Trespass and if the value of the film is less than 250 bucks, than you can charge him with petit larceny... both are punishable with hefty fines and/or jail time...
if i was him and you held the smoking gun {the photos} i would be nost anxious to keep you happy....maybe it can be settled with-out the courts.. after all there is no set statute of time that you have to file charges.. you can be a cloud over his head for sometime... good luck..

dedux,
This is from a law enforcement point of view. I would call you local sheriff's dept. to get a report first and that might help the word get to him. If that does not work I would do what judge jb said do because there is no telling what else has been stolen from you.
Trespassing
Petit Larceny

ahhhh, the old double naught spy second deer cam trick. Think of how many folks here will put their deer cam's to use in the off season to see what's going on when they're away. If I had a daughter, I'd put one on the tree outside of her window.
Do your thing with the Sheriff, then send the pics to that tv show, caught on film.

I've had the pics a few days, now, and was uncertain how to handle the issue. That's the reason I posted the incident here. to get other opinions. Ya'll seem about as irate, as I am over it.
I've decided to give the guy 5 days to contact me, and then I'm filing the papers with the Sheriff's Dept. and Game Warden, no questions asked!!!
I'll let ya'll know how it comes out.

Just like ducman77 said...from a law enforcement point of view...you should press charges on him. If you let him get away with it this time then the poacher/trespasser will think he can get away with it any other time. I know you might think that if you press charges then he/she might try to do some damage to your property when you are not there but then he/she might not know where you put the other trail cameras at!
Give'em hell....that's what I say.

It's not a passion, it's a sickness!!! I don't want a cure!!!!
