Where is the talk about the Green Wave

Postby mossyisland » Mon Sep 15, 2003 10:11 pm

I know last week when Ole Miss lost to Memphis there was 2 or 3 post about it. So what about the loss all you state fans. I hate to say I am a fan of both. GH 22 where are you at.

Personally, I want to see Joe Lee back, as Head Coach this time, and Sherrill sent back to Texas!!!

No reason to talk smack about this situation. It was a surprise when Ole Miss lost to the tigers. Anyone with half a brain knew Jackie and the dogs would drop the game to Tulane.

I heard yesterday that Mike Ditka is moving to Starkville, MS on ESPN. They asked him why and he said "I just wanted to get as far away from football as I can." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

no defense

Postby sig » Tue Sep 16, 2003 8:31 am

I would like to think the defense is just young and inexperienced, but we sure did stink. Tulane consistently moved the ball on the ground and in the air.

I did see some improvements in the offense...I still have my about the coaching staff especially the head. I have felt that way about him even when we were "winning".

The Dawgs have some good local talent, but can't recruit the top players because not many parents, given an option, want their kids to play for Coach Sherrill. There is no trust factor there...with good reason. The team has no heart...no character. That comes from the top, and there's a real vacuum of both there! Go, Dawgs! And, Go Coach Sherrill...just go someplace else! By the way, I have had four players recruited by MSU in the school where I was principal in the last six years. This is from them and their parents.

I'm probably going to be bashed for this statement, but I am still a Jackie Sherrill fan. He is still the winningest coach in MSU history and has taken his teams to more bowl games than any other coaches in MSU history. Some of the State fans have short memories. Coach Paul Davis 1962-1966 (1 Winning season 1 Bowl Game). Coach Charley Shira 1967-1972 ( 1 Winning season 1 Bowl Game). Coach Bob Tyler 1973-1978 (2 Winning seasons 1 Bowl Game) Coach Emory Bellard 1979-1985 (2 Winning seasons 2 Bowl games) Coach Rockey Felker 1986-1990 (1 Winning season 0 Bowl games)From 1895-1962 Miss. State has only been in 2 Bowl games. In the 29 year before JWS, only 7 Winning seasons and only 5 Bowl games. Yes, I agree there is plenty of room for improvment, but I still think JWS is the man for the job.

I'm with Don Miller !

We could have David Cuttcliff as a head coach !
 So dont tell me, "it couldnt be worse !" :D

Just a little JAB at my Reb buddies !  No harm intended !

Thank the good Lord, we can now concentrate on Duck Season, instead of being bothered with all those post season preperations ! ( travel, hotels, tickets ).....

IMHO, some people take dis krap way, way, way too serious !

Baseball anyone ?

If Jackie, who has not won a game since last October as I recall, can't beat Houston this week, he has a legit shot at 0-12.

My alma matter will need divine intervention to win 5 games. But I would still rather have Cuttcliffe. At least he can admit when something is a "must win" game, even if he has never heard the term "zone coverage.".

I would heap abuse on GH22, but having to hunt and peck left handed is not worth it :D

I had a friend play under Jackie at A&M. I met him and he is a class act. However, that new defensive cordinator is not very good from what I hear. I go to law school with a defensive back from Louisville that played for him at Louisville. He told me that they were glad to see him go! He said he compicated things to the point of mass confussion. This sounds just like what he has done so far at MSU. Good luck boys you are gonna need it cause LSU is sharpening their claws. The test for them is this weekend against GA. GEAUX TIGERS!

Thanks Don Miller for your words about JWS. He's like many others, he has some flaws, but he doesn't pretend to be something he's not. People seem to "pile on" ole Jackie whether his team wins or loses.

He's done more for MSU football than anybody else. He coaches more like Bear than any other disciple he has in coaching- nothing flashy, just line up, and come straight at 'em. That's good as long as you have MEN to carry out the orders. He AIN'T got it and hasn't in three years.

He may very well be pushed out before the end of the season, but WHO CAN MSU GET that can do ant better?

JWS had EARNED the Bama job when they passed over him for Dubose. How stupid they were! They would have had another championship by now...

Like I said before, State fans have short memories. Just think about who all were in the running for the head coaching job before we hired JWS.......Ray Perkins, Larry Lacewell, John Jenkins and Danny Ford. I think we made the right choice. As far as I know all of these guys are out of coaching, at least as a head coach anywhere.
