New guy saying hi and a question

Postby BigMike » Wed Jul 30, 2003 2:45 pm

I have been a frequent reader of these boards for almost two years now. You guys have alot of great info, and I have learned alot. Thought it was about time that I actually registered and introduced myself. I am Mike and live in Saltillo just outside of Tupelo. I hunt ducks and deer primarily. I have land and a house in the Walnut area where I deer hunt and am really interested in "building" a duck hole in soybean fields there. I will be picking some of you guys brains about that in the near future I hope. I do manage to kill a few ducks there in sloughs but mostly duck hunt on the Tenn Tom.

Now for my question.....I have never muzzleloader or archery hunted so I have always bought the big-game/fishing license. It has always been a paper/plastic type of license that folded several times to fit in my wallet. Last year, I noticed that a friend had a cool "credit card" type of license and I asked him about it.......the sportsmans license. This year, I specifically ordered a sportsman's license (from the MDWFP website) just so I would get that type of card. I also bought the electronic state waterfowl "stamp". When my license arrived today, it is again a long (very long!!) paper/plastic thing. How do I get the cool looking (and much more wallet carry friendly) card? Anyway, thanks in advance for replys, and I look forward to being a part of the board. Mike

Welcome Mike. your "COOL" looking sportsmans license will be sent to you later. I renewed my license over the phone July 12. Received my "Walmart Receipt" license last week. Still waiting for the Cool one.

Hey BigMike, when you get your card make sure it's got MB at the bottom for migratory birds (HIP certification for ducks and doves) and WF for state duck stamp. I would write license no. on your Tel-check card when you call in deer/turkey. You gotta keep up with that or at least leave by your phone. Don't forget to get your Fed duck stamp it's probably sharper than the license. :D LOL

How much did the sportsman license cost cause this is the first year that I will ahve to buy one, and one is easier to keep up with than several.

It is $32. This will be my fist year to muzzleload hunt, so I have not needed it before either.

This was my first year time too buy sportsman liscense in a longgggggg time. The clerk at wally world ask me if I was going too waterfowl hunting,I told him I was, I guess he put it in for the HIP NO. Price was 33.00. My question is he said something about doing away with duck stamps this year as far as them( wally world) selling them. So what do u do too be a legal beagle while your out there duck hunting when you get your liscense back. :P
