3" #2's for me with a full choke. Birds look like they hit a brick wall inside 30 yards.

3 1/2" for the geese and the same ole full choke.

those 3" w/ 1 1/4 ounce #2 Kents will roll anything that takes flight in this state stone cold dead. I have waxed geese with 2 3/4 inch BB. 3.5 is overkill in my opinion but I don't frown on folks packing heavy artillery

i personally have declared that I am a 3.5" shooter for the rest of my life. I have never seen the number of wounded ducks that I have this year(using Kent 3" #2). And these ducks arent out of range. Been shooting 3.5, much less wounded and no overkill.
My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks I am

3 1/2" shells are very good when hunting over big water or in fields where you can't get close to birds, but if your in timber or a good blind 3" works very well for me. I only use my Rhino choke when i'm wanting to add an extra ten yards to my distance, but for close shooting it's not necessary. I go with #2's either way.Good luck with the ducks.

You can still miss with a 3 1/2 but it's more fun 'cause you scare the ducks better!

Gotta love the 3.5 inch shells! Love the punch, the bang, and the hurtin' it puts on the ducks/geese..Haven't seen overkill with it yet..But it might not be the gun of choice in flooded hardwoods...Good luck Guys!
I may go to Heaven, or I may go to hell....But one thing is for certain..It'll be after Duck season!!

I thought I would try them kent 3" #2's out of my gun just for the heck of it. After dropping a greenhead graveyard dead at about 35 yds last year with my buddies gun (A 2 3/4" remington 1100 12 ga. with a 30" full choke barrel) I figured that the 3" #2's would do just fine out of my gun. WROOOOOONG!!!! I have been doing nothing but shooting the same ducks 3 times and therefor only getting 1 bird out of every group. Although the chokes say "for lead only" I am thinking about shooting either my Improved Modified or Full choke out of my gun. Someone suggested that I try a Turkey choke if I really wanted to see results, and the only thing is that the choke tends to get shot out after about 300 shots. I know a few years ago when a buddy of mine's gun messed up I let him shoot my 870 and it had the turkey choke screwed in it when we uncased it at the lake (still in it from turkey season). I can tell you he made some LONG shots at escaping ducks that day and I was impressed with its performance.

I am a fan of the kent 3" #2 1&1/4 ounce loads. these loads are awesome because they move at 1500 fps. I had to reduce my lead on birds with them though. Sometimes I just think these ducks are lucky. I had a greenwing floating STILL over the decoys at less than 20 yards this weekend and missed three times in a row. I was embarrased but I think the friggin pattern went around the bird! One lucky duck that is probably a bit more wise today
