DutchD, from what I understand Ted Addison was doing all of the mounts from Beartail.... He did a mallard for me that was looking at his leg band - it is really cool.
Sometimes you just have to close your eyes, count to ten, take a deep breath and remind yourself that you wouldn't look good in prison stripes... and just smile at that dumbass and walk away.

In North Mississippi, you need to check out Paul Witt (662-454-3519). He is the best that I have ever seen. He has mounted numerous deer, ducks, turkey, and fish for me. They all look the same now as they did when I first picked them up. Paul has been doing this for YEARS, and teaches it, too. There is no telling at the competitions he has won. Paul is a perfectionist and very creative. This is one thing that gives him an edge. Just my two cents worth!!

Happy Hunting!!!!!!!!!!

Another vote for Ted Addison. I met him last year at a DU event and he does great work at a reasonable price. He's doing two ducks for me right now. I should be getting one back anytime now. You're right...he is a youngster but the guy has skills.

If you live around North MS...you might want to give Andy Stanford a try...His number is (662) 869-2058...He does incredible work and his prices are not all that high...He is from Saltillo and anybody associated with the Tupelo chapter of DU knows he gives $200 worth of mounts a year.

Pat Pitt

I agree that it is worth the cost of a mount just to see Pat Pitt's trophy room. Every species of North American gamebird is there plus some. I seriously doubt that there is another bird collection like his in any museum anywhere. His taxidermy is first class.

T.C. Hicks

Postby h2o_dog » Tue Dec 17, 2002 12:37 am

T.C. Hicks #1 for mammals for sure. I know where there are several deer that he did circa 1960, and they still look as awesome as the day he did them. Age is the true test of taxidermy. I thought his son took over the business?

h20 he son did but I don't think he is as good as his dad was. He did a Canada goose and a Mallard for me a couple of years ago that aren't nearly as good as his dad's mounts

Torch is right. I've had several mounts done by Trustin Hicks. They still look as good as the day I picked them up.
