Naw, we moved from Hattiesburg in '83......'bout the time they started construction on their present location.

Yeah, I thought that was a lot of decoys for them.....I bought a dozen 'Woodies" there, for my wife for Christmas, last year.

I'm going down there for a visit this weekend and, as always, will drop-in to say 'hi' to Anita and the gang.

Next time you're in there, check-out the Sable and Kudu in the middle of the store.

now ya'll finally talking bout places i know of...i grew up in prentiss and KNOW all bout the gators at Jeff Davis lake...went over there after my little league game when i was a wee lad to watch the gator roundup one night...seems some gator was chasing skiers, swimmers, and got a few of the folks dogs that camped there...saw one take out a couple of woodies w/ one munch a few years ago...

I don't know Billy Gilmore, Anatidae. Big Bucks is a premier place for sure. Gator, do you hunt the Res w/dog and avoid the gators? Looks like in the main lake after cold water it wouldn't be a problem. But back up in the sheltered marsh in the pockets looks like they could come out on warmer days.

denduke, i was talking more of jeff davis and the gators but to answer your question, this is my first year to hunt w/ a dog but i have seen fellas w/ dogs out there during season...as far as the warm weather and the marsh, i would tend to agree w/ you...i don't believe they go into a true hibernation in ms...i think they come out when it's warmer weather regardless of the time of year...on that lake w/ it's reputation, i would shy away during a warm front to be sure...but during cold weather, i wouldn't hesitate one bit...i have seen dogs out there during teal season and that early goose season and i gotta say, that is pushing the envelope a little IMO...just too dangerous in my opinion for man and dog...gator

I'll agree with you Gator, that they probably don't do too much hibernating around here. Because I have seen them in the middle of duck season before.

Sluggish, but still may pose a threat to a dog.
