I got one. I have the 2005 AC 400 4X4. And I really like mine.. It has 2 many features for the price to pass up compared to the others. The only thing I would say about the 400 is the power to weight ratio seems a little bit low. It is a really heavy bike (and the TBX may even be heavier than mine). Mine is the manual tranny, so the auto may be different. My top end is about 55 MPH, but it takes a little while to get there. Other than that, the machine will just about walk thru anything, you would be suprised what you can drive over with 12 inches of ground clearance. You put that bad boy in Low Range 4 Wd and Lock the front differential and you will go thru some mud.. I got mine at Southern Sports center in Richland. Did not care for the dealer Jackson Motor Sports on hwy 80 in Pearl though.. The 400 has the Suziki engine in it and according to several ATV mechanics that is a really good engine, I have heard to stay away from the bigger bikes that use the Kawasaki engine. Still having problems with that.

sounds good! Appreciate the thoughts...

We are looking forward to it...he went back and forth between the TBX and the TRX, both on the 2006 model year end sale...but I like the features of the TBX. I think it'll be good for him in use, he can work with it good with all th storage and bed...I mean a 400 4x4 with 12" of ground clearance, locking diff, and independent suspension and all that will go ANYWHERE he needs to go...

Don't forget the

Full Metal Floorboards
Disc Brakes all the way around
Adjustable shocks (set them to the softest level, youll love the ride)
2 in Reciever Hitch
Speed rack system
Heavy Duty Racks - (Your gonna need new bungee cords cause standard ones don't fit around he rack)
2 Year Warrenty


Oh by the way. The say that the engine does not come to life until about 500 miles on it. I have 250 on mine and the thing really is starting to smooth out and purr like a kitten

LOL I didn't know all those specs...sounds like you're sold!

They do come with alot for the price. This is my first dealings with Artic Cat.

I will have to tell him bout the engine...seems a long break in period???

No, the break in period is not that long. But what I have heard from the Arctic Cat Forum is that this particular engine really smooths out and gains power at about 500 Miles. I thought is was just BS, but I am at 250 now and I have seen a noticable increase in power and the engine has really smoothed out. So I have been riding the fool out of it to get it to 500 to see what it will be like after that...

Don't know about the new ones, but three years ago a cousin of mine had a AC 400. Bike was built solid. Full floor boards from the factory, heel / toe shifter from the factory and handled anything he would throw at it. Ride quality will not compare to a polaris, but the independent rear is nice. Compare load ratings as they may have slightly less compared to a solid rear axle quad.

Comes up everyyear. I like my 500 auto. It stays in water during the season and goes places where I only have to find those 6-wheelers. Engine is good. Only problem was intake and outtake for belt housing was too low, and I had to modify that. Is probably made different now.

I will buy another Arctic Cat, and I recomend them, but please take my advice -------- DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES OR FOR ANY REASON TRY TO GET SERVICE AT JACKSON MOTOR SPORTS.. If they want me to get into it I will, but suffice it to say they have the absolutely worst customer service for any business I have ever dealt with, and I have bought a lot of stuff in 40 years. And this problem I am ashamed to say happens EVERY time I try to get regular or other service, which has been every year for 5 years in a row. Call me stupid. As a result, my next bike will be purchased from some other dealer or I will switch brands.

had two camlock, 400 and currently 500, both manuals. you can't tear them up or stop them. had the 400 over in the delta and had four men avg. 200lbs each on it looking at land, man on back was pointing out bougues and so forth not seeing the freshly disk field we drove out in, it had just rained hard that mourning and after about 50yards into the field he says were stuck. i stop, put it in low 4x4, without diff lock on this older model, and drive out no problems and he can't believe it. you will love it and your dad will too. my 2 cents.
