My parents have several gros becs in roosting in their front yard as we speak. When I'd make a mess around the dinner plate, pops used to say "Your plate looks like a gros bec nest"

I haven't heard a snapping turtle called a Gros Bec. I have heard a cheeseburger goose called a gros bec though.

i've often heard ibis refered to as gros bec

an ibis is a gos bec where I come from.

grinnel, bowfin, cypress trout, chinqipin ect.

I have always called a red ear bream a chinqipin.
