I never heard the turtle name before.

I hadn't heard choupique in years. What memeories

My parents have several gros becs in roosting in their front yard as we speak. When I'd make a mess around the dinner plate, pops used to say "Your plate looks like a gros bec nest"

I haven't heard a snapping turtle called a Gros Bec. I have heard a cheeseburger goose called a gros bec though.
