Some highlights from the 'Farm Bill' (as contained in an article from the most recent issue of DU, recieved July 5th) is as follows;<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>
WRP-$1.5 billion in new funding for the
Wetlands Reserve Program, which will increase the total acreage from 1.075 million to 2.275 million acres.<LI>
CRP-$1.517 billion will fund the
Conservation Reserve Program and will increase the total enrollment from 36.4million to 39.2 million acres.<LI>
GRP-$254 million for the new
Grasslands Reserve Program, which will enroll up to 2 million ac of grassland in 10-,15-,20-, and 30-year contracts, as well as permanent easements.<LI>
WHIP-$700 million for the
Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program, a popular cost-share program that supports fish and wildlife conservation on private lands.</UL>
