My preacher doesn't think much of absent hunting spouses on Sunday. . . but he has to work on Sunday and can go during the week!!!!!

As to the issue of the thread, he preaches that you need to worship God in God's house and reading the bible or praying in a deer stand don't cut it.

Ask your preacher why he works on Sunday he is breaking the Sabbath.

The Sabbath is Saturday, for all your old testament quotes. If were gonna be literal, lets be literal. And the word "Holy" means "different" or "seperate." Why is Sun AM more "holy" than Church on Sunday P.M.?

Please tell me why God is upset with me for missing Church to hunt Sun AM, but going Sunday PM? Seriously, give me an answer!

I teach Sunday School 10 months out of the year, a class most Wed nights, and do everything else around the Church they ask, write a check every week, and my pastor does not say a peep about me being gone Sunday AM during duck season! He ain't no dummy.

When I hunt on Sundays, I shoot one limit for me and one for the Lord. Did Jesus go to church on Sundays. If so, what denomination? I am a Christian. Going to Church does not make you a Christian; neither does shooting a limit for Jesus in the blind (but it don't hurt neither)

And the Lord told me to bring his limit to the boat ramp between 11-12. According to the angel that hath descended on the WINGman.

I am not saying God is upset with anybody or that hunting on sudays is wrong. I do hunt on sudays just not during church hours. I am saying this that if you are a christian and you have made it past salvation, because there is much more to being a christian than salvation, then your desire will be to be with God in his house instead of being in a duck blind during his time on his day. The bible says do not committ Idolatry which is putting other gods before Him. There are many forms of gods out there such as money and duck hunting. If we are choosing duck hunting over God than its Idolatry. I committ Idolatry everyday I put a million things before God, I am no different than the rest of us. I am not getting down anyone or condemning anyone. The post was hunting on sundays, and for the answere do I think it is wrong? No! Do I think it is wrong to miss church and hunt and put hunting before God even if its 2 months out of there year, even if you teach sunday school, and even if you tithe every Sunday, You bet I beleive its wrong. But as far as judging people that do or looking down on people that do no way because I know it is only through His grace that I am anything and with out him I am nothing, I have a million faults and sins a day that I know are wrong.

I have heard that too. I just don't buy into it.

A man doesn't have to explain why he hunts on Sunday and it is really no one's business but his own.

I am not overly concerned with what you fellas will do for two hours each Sunday morning while I am in the Lord's house.

He will deliver you into my hands soon enough if that is what He wants to do. He has delivered many so far. Some He is saving for later.

This is pure form over substance. The essence of your argument is "If you are not there every time the Church doors open, you are an immature christian." This is the same sort of thing the Pharisees jumped on Jesus about: "Why don't you fast on Sunday like we cool kids?" Jesus did not go to the synagog every sabbath, because he has not welcome there after the first year or so of his ministry. Guess he flunked the MS Ducks piety test, too.

Bottom line in all this-- Everybody lives their life based on SOME code or system of right and wrong. If you chose the Bible as your code for life, you cannot be flippant about sunday worship.

Perhaps you heard about the guy who disagreed with his pastor over a message he delivered. He said, "Preacher, you can't get that out of the Bible!". The preacher said, "That's right, it's in the Bible and it ain't coming out!".

Gulf coast, I wish the folks at our church would be there and help out for ten months out of the year. Most are far from that...

Im not arguing or condemning Im saying If you desire God you will be doing the things He wants you to do. No we do not always do them. But we can not deny that He wants at church (which is the Bride of Christ). The difference is Jesus was not welcomed. How many times have you walked into the church and were not welcomed?

To feel as strongly about being in church every Sunday morning how do you justify killing deer ducks on Saturday for sport? Or do most folk have too simply too eat? I know that I do not. The older I get the more I have thought on that and justify it somewhat by makeing sure they are not wasted as I have in the past....

I also wonder what happens too all the poor souls without acess to churchs, by following some of the logic in previous posts.. it all gets a touch hypocritical to me......

I have ta go with tha Monkey on this thread.........
