we came back I-10West to I-55 just after noon today and i was absolutely amazed at the force and turbulence of the water that was rushing under I-10 close to hammond!
is the gate opening going to affect any of you guys or are you more west of the projected flood zone? some of the predictions are unbelievable...towns under 25 feet of floodwater.
You are talking about water from the BC spillway?
yes, bc spillway about water rushing under interstate into pontchartrain and the gate opening question/projected 25ft floodwater is about morganza.

This picture is one of the main reasons I have recommended your getting all your shots up to date, wearing masks/respirators, etc. if you will be involved in the clean-up efforts. Realize that a lot of your clothing, boots, gloves, etc. will need to be trashed after cleaning up from the flood because of contaminants. Headlamps will be very helpful depending on where you need to go.

(This picture was taken after I was underneath my house in a still partially flooded crawlspace tearing out my ductwork.)

I'm west of the West Protection Levee, no water expected here. Water didn't get here in 1927 either. It did get 3 miles from where we live today, but was protected by railroad tracks. My boss lives in Butte La Rose and they are expecting 15' of water there. Got a few friends and some family further south that they are waiting to see what the backwater will entail.

good luck to all families and friends that are (or will be) affected...whether they are already out, or are waiting to see how it shakes out b/f making a decision to leave.... it is a gut wrenching situation, for sure.

Cool pics, but there's WAY too much purple and gold on that site for me...

Yeah, there should've been a disclaimer on Bourbon's post: IF YOU VENTURE TO OTHER TOPICS, YOUR IQ WILL DROP MARKEDLY.

I just saw a photo album on facebook of huntington point's camp. There was about nine cabins left over there after we lost lease in August. None of them were particuarly nice, but they were functionable. They were all bought by the new club members. From the pictures, at least three floated completely off their poles and ended up who knows where. The caretakers trailer didnt float off but was twisted all up and missing walls. Looked to me like two cabins might be worth salvaging. This is right on the riverbank so current was bad, hope the other camps come out better than that.

28 day forecast shows a little rise up north but still continuing to fall throughout "our" area thru middle of June. Although it does slow down the fall a bit.
