its hell when you try to do it in a short time. thats one of the main workouts i used to do once a week back when i was fighting mma. and i love it, plus it is great on cardio as well as muscle buildup.

How much sleep do you end up getting every night? I will bet you don't have any trouble going to bed.

I am usually in bed b/w 9:30 to 10:30. During peak training season 9-9:30. Ever since I had my first child (who didn't sleep the first two years of life) I haven't slept much to be honest.

Cervelo,

From the name I am guessing you already ride. I am not a tri-guy and I travel a good bit so my time is more limited. I did the time crunched cyclist last season from Carmichael. High intensity with short durations during the week and longer rides with less intense efforts on the weekends. It will make you fit and fast. You will not loose a ton of weight so it really depends on what you want. The workouts are so intense that you will be eating alot just to have the calories to complete the efforts. You can do the century ride block instead of the race block and decrease the intensity some.

I will be starting another cycle in the next month. Since I won't be killing ducks I might as well bring the pain.

Good luck and ride/run safe.

Thcobb1, Thanks and yes I do ride. I do the triathlon thing as well. I will try to look at that program.. Thanks for the idea. I also have a computrainer at home so that does the trick as well. Got a great 10 mile run in yesterday... I am hurting today..

If you haven't worked out in a while, try the Power 90 before the P90X. It will set you up better for the rigors of P90X.

I just googled this and a DVD appeared on Amazon. Is this what you are talking about thcobb1, is it done soley on a trainer and is it similar to Spinervals and stuff.

peewee,

Get the book. It has several training programs in it. Race 1, Race 2, Century, etc. The book is a quick read but it will help you understand what your doing. There are points during the training where you may abandon or cut intervals short due to fatigue. How to do the Trainright fit test etc. Nice part for me was I can go and hang with the tuesday hammerfest while training 6 to 8 hours a week. For someone who does tris you could use this as cycle traininig and still have time for other sports. The thought being to replace volume with intensity and I mean intensity.

You can do the workouts on a trainer or on the road. I find the Fit test is best done on a trainer.

I am trying to lose a little weight and tone up. I have the P90x workout. I will have to give it a go

P90x is impossible unless you are already in great shape. If anyone cares to argue I will place a wager on it. I know marathoners that cant do the program.

Watching what you eat is key. I usually lose about 25 to 40 lbs from Feb 1 to Oct 1 and gain it all back during deer season. I could lose it last yera because I messed my back up. This is not a reccomended way of doing things at all. I know how to lose it but those cold beers and deer hunting sure put it back on.

Thanks I will check it out for sure. As for as cycling I am alright when it comes to TT, but I suck when it comes to hills or sprints. I can maintain speed I just aint a good climber and don't understand why. I worked on it hard in the Vicksburg Military Park last summer but all my training partners could still out climb me even when I was hitting the hills twice as much as they were. When we raced I ususally outperformed them or was tick for tack with them in every tri on the bike.
