Tried another good beer this weekend. I bought a six pack of TommyKnocker Ornery Amber. Good amber beer, not too hoppy. Any other good TommyKnocker beers anyone would suggest?

With as many cajuns as we got on this here board, it took 13 pages of this thread, and a member from Albania - no less - with less than 500 posts to mention 'Dixie' beer!?!?

What IS this world coming to?

Back on topic, I'm not a real big beer drinker, but have any of you tried 'Mississippi Mud'?

welcome.....the wonderful world of bootleggin' across state lines!! if you find you pursue the finer, higher gravity beer in life(7.5, 8, 9, 10+ a.b.v), you will have to either find a mule to haul it for you or make the trips yourself and travel out of this state to get it...and if you really like it, you will travel!!

Speaking of high gravity beers, start knocking back a few Belgian trappist beers. I tried a Chimay a while back. One or two of those will slip up on you quick.

I guess the strongest beer that I've ever had was while in Africa (the real place, not just West Jackson), in Mozambique they sold this stuff called 'Manica'. It only came in pints, and 2 or 3 was your absolute limit. I had 6 one night, but I don't remember too much after that.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – A Dutch brewer with a penchant for competition has laid claim to creating the world's strongest brew: a beer that is some 60 percent alcohol by volume.

"You don't drink it like beer, but like a cocktail -- in a nice whisky or cognac glass," brewer Jan Nijboer told Dutch news agency ANP.

Nijboer's Almere-based brewery, 't Koelschip (The Refrigerated Ship), sells the new beer, which is 120 proof and dubbed "Start the Future," in a one-third liter bottle for 35 euros ($45) each.

Nijboer told ANP he developed the new brew to keep up with Scottish outfits that were also pushing the boundaries of beer's alcohol content.

His previous record-holder, a beer called Oblix that was 90 proof (45 percent alcohol by volume), was eclipsed by a Scottish beer that reached 55 percent.

That beer, dubbed "The End of History," was announced last week by a small brewery called BrewDog. Only 12 bottles were made, each housed inside a stuffed dead animal and sold starting at 500 pounds ($780) each.

So is that why The Waterfowler has all those dead animals around his place?

I don't drink beer, I drink Southern Comfort. That's when I do drink. Last time I drank I was standing with just a shirt on next to a campfire in MS at the Diamondhead ATV trail area.

when i was into the beer making (i.e. the "illegitimate child" exploded in my house...twice) i can upon a fellas blog that was into making all these extreme brews, food paring, etc etc.

he did this deal where he brewed a batch, then froze it....of course the water in it froze the beer didn't. he then put the beer in a secondary fermentor for a few more weeks, then repeated. did this several times.

i can't remember how high an alcohol content it was, but it was damned remarkable what he was able to do - per his blog and supposed gravity readings in any case.

but, i don't think it was THAT high.
