Not many beaches on the big island. A couple of black sand ones on the south end as I remember. Lots of volcanic sights, lava rock and rough ground. Lava tubes were interesting also. Hilo is OK and a little laid back when I was there. The Parker Ranch is a big place and an interesting drive. Saw turkeys, Nenes and some goats.

Drive "the saddle road" btwn the volcano's.
Visit volcano national park.
Visit Parker Ranch.
Do tubing on rivers on east side of island.
You're gonna have a great time.

Well i've seen and read several places where turkey hunting over there is open year round. might be somethin to look into if ya'll like stuff like that. no idea on prices or anything like that. just an idea

Naw trust me, the race date is what made our decision to head out there (race is on the Oct. 9).
As far as the hunting I can't shoot yet due to my shoulder, but I should be good to go in about a month.
Thanks fellows for yalls advice, I'll give you some updates and pics when we return.

My favorite place was Kona......small, laid back community......I would spend a couple of days there.

Last time I was in Kona I bought a HulaBean t-shirt that has their logo on the back. My wife gets pissed everytime I wear it.
