It doesnt matter what kind of diet or exercise program your on, You must give your body plenty of REST to keep a normal metabolism or you will just retain fluids

I workout out in a range of 8 to 18 hours a week. Depending on whatever plan I am following call for. Cervelo you already know it is running biking and swimming, also usually 2-3 core sessions a week and an ocassional pilates with the wife. During the most hours a training day will start b/w 4-4:30 am, either on a trainer or headed to the pool. On the weekend long ride on Sat., long run on Sunday. If I am feeling spiffy I will get an open water swim on Sunday in the pond behind the house. If I pull a brick (ride/run afterwords) on a weekday both workouts are done in one day. All that in time to get home, get the wife and kids up for work and school and make some breakfast. It seems like hard work sometimes but I don't plan on going back to the fat route.

I did the P90X for a while (3weeks). It was pretty tough. You have to be in some sort of decent shape before starting it.
I quit it, the beer wasn't tasting as good and I wasn't having one as often as I liked. I do have my priorities.
So, I just did portion control eating and have done ok.

P90x is by far the best thing I have found to either get back in shape or stay that way. It worked well for me because there was no planning involved - just follow the schedule, put in the DVD and follow along. I would recommend going to the gym for at least a couple of weeks to get sore and over it before you start. The other secret to P90x is to have a buddy to meet you every morning to hold you accountable for the workouts. It looks impossible at the start but there are all kinds of different ways to do it to make it easier or harder depending on your fitness level. I know it is designed to be done at home but there is no way I would have finished it if I had been doing it by myself. We took a laptop and speakers into the gym and followed along with the DVDs. Probably looked like idiots, but it worked for me.
After I finished that, I started back running and following a half-marathon plan for a race in February. Filled in the days I'm not running with weights and abs. I will say when I started back running again, I was in way better shape after P90x and had not run in about 6 months. Started back faster than I was when I quit.
I will also say that at 35, it takes a whole lot more effort to see results than it did at 20.

peewee,
How much sleep do you end up getting every night? I will bet you don't have any trouble going to bed.

its seems to keep me in pretty good shape
Trust me, dont listen to this guy!

The only exercising he does is gettin up off the couch to go to fridge!

yea ok, or i guess i could tell them the workout we used to do when we were training for fights, but most of these folks couldnt handle that one.

I'm getting tired just reading about exercise. I'm gonna go make me a big o bowl of icecream and lay on the couch. How many calories do you burn walking 25 ft from the kitchen to the couch?
