Hey esteslane, after hearing what kind of year you have had this year, I'm kinda remorseful I did'nt take ya up on the invite! Sounds like you had a banner season! Congrats!!!

Which 3 States are you speaking of? (I know Tenn.) What about the other 2?

Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Oklahoma is unbelievable. You have to pass up young birds all day to get the big one. I went ahead and shot a young one the first day to get a kill under my belt. Then it was time for the big boy. The birds out there are smaller than the eastern wild turkey though. Still a rush. I'm ready for next year. You shoulda' e-mailed me Rip. I would have been more than happy to take you. How was your season?

Season went great! Got the limit!

No old birds this time though! Just the way it goes sometimes!

First time in a long time I did'nt hunt another state. Usually go to Texas!

Plan on a Miss. hunt next year! Left plenty of birds on all my places this year. Next year is already lookin pretty good.

No need for a motel, as we have plenty of room! You may be forced to watch a 7 & 8 year old baseball game. Other than that, we can pretty much stick to the basics!

Just hope ya like food from a grill, and SEC baseball !

Holler back!

Believe me Rip......I will take you up on that. We will switch a hunt out w/ each other. And there is nothing better than South Eastern Confrence sports. How do you normally do in Texas?? We hunt on the border of Texas and Oklahoma.

We usually hunt along the Rio Grande. Fine huntin and fine people down thata way!

My connection to that part of the country is Boss Hawg Jr., or as Delta Duck likes to call him,... Tighta$$ :D

Maybe we can get him fired up on this subject!

By no means are we what you would call regulars down there, but Boss is very informative, and up on this area, not to mention, all you have to do is say Laredo, or San Antonio and he's ready to go !

I killed my limit bird on April 6 and have been taking others hunting ever since. It's almost as much fun calling up a turkey for someone else as it is to kill one yourself, and in some cases, it's better. The highlights of the season were taking several little boys on their first turkey hunt and seeing the wonder in their eyes at the sight of their first strutting, gobbling wild turkey, and calling up the first gobbler that a close, 60 year old friend ever shot. It has been a great season, but I am pretty much wiped out, and I think that I will just let the rest of it fade away on the memories.

Hambone, it took a bunch of years to figure out what you just said to be true!
I agree, I think nowdays I'd rather call for someone else, especially a first timer!
Guess I'm gettin old ! :(

Old? I knew it had to happen...just got a call from a friend with a hot bird. I certainly couldn't refuse his request to try to trip the gobbler up tomorrow morning. Then again, that will keep my edge sharp until I can get to Tennessee this weekend, this time carrying a shotgun!
