Yep, I used to go up there a lot, it's a pretty neat place. Me, my wife, 2 Labs, and 2 cases of beer in 1 canoe. I need something with a little more gitty up than Bear Creek

Spring river. Just remember to use sunscreen. I came back with a hangover that lasted 3 days and looked like a lobster for 5.
I would suggest a floating tube. A case of beverages will make that canoe very tipsy. Make sure the kayak doesn't have holes in it. Ain't really that fun to try and paddle a sinking vessel.

Gotta go at the right time.
You got contact info for canoe rentals on either of those?
There are several for the Okatoma. I want to say one is Okatoma Canoe Rentals in Seminary MS and Okatoma Outdoor Post. I attached a link If the water is half way up there are some good spots. Lots of Sandbars and places to get out and chill

They have cabins for good price. We had about 12 of us camped Saturday got snockered up and rafted Sunday in the cold water (Sobering) was perfect for the ride back!!

Thanks, I'm looking for something closer to the house than The Buffalo, I've done that and it's great, but a little far away for a normal weekend trip.

We usually take a bunch of folks to the okatoma every year. It is real fun. They have as mentioned a lot of sandbars and places to relax. Also they have a rope swing and a tree jump that are fun. Okatoma outdoor post is who we went through the last few years.

Isn't there another spot down around wiggins, Stone County? Can remember the name. D'lo water park in D'lo isn't too bad if the water is up some. It is a lot of dragging if it is low.
Heck you could always canoe the little sunflower if you liked to go slow and straight and fihgt misquitos the size of hawks. That would trip a cane pole toting brotha out to see you paddling down steel bayou.

Hey smitty we are going to float the tallahega in winston county next week. It's about a 3 hour float with the beer stops. It has 5 waterfalls and two I have rated as a class 2. SOme currents too, and rock bottom. It aint an all weekend thing but you and that neby lowrey and whooped todd should come down and we can float it one day.
If you can handle your beer...I heard you drink like a girl...
