Thanks for the replies. I'm doing this for a bunch middle schoolers, so I can toy with some of the questionable lyrics, but many, many others are out. I want to keep it Old School with Muddy and Robert Johnson and kinda bring it up to speed to today's time.

Here are some additional MS blues artists to consider and some "clean songs" by them:

Elmore James (Tchula, MS): considered the father of the slide guitar and a blues legend: Standing at the Crossroads; Dust my Broom; and The Sky is Crying are 3 clean, but very good, blues standards.

Willie Foster (Leland, MS): harmonica player and vocalist: Leland Shuffle (good Delta boogie tune --its an instrumental, so its got to be clean), Wonder Why, and Thought You Was My Gal are some recommendations.

Pinetop Perkins (Belzoni, MS); piano player and vocalist: Down in Mississippi is a great, clean Delta piano boogie song, that is about his native home of Belzoni; Chicken Shack and Kidney Stew are two clean blues standards.

The Jelly Roll Kings (includes Big Jack Johnson of Clarksdale and other MS local bluesmen): Big Jack, one of the best guitar players still alive who hails from MS sings a great blues song about fishing, called Fishin' Musician.

Charlie Musselwhite (Kosiosko, MS): harmonica great : has many good clean boogie blues songs: suggestion would be Make my Getaway.

Jimmy Reed (Dunleith, MS) : blues legend: a good clean blues standard from Jimmy would be You Got Me Dizzy.

Jimmy Rogers (Ruleville, MS): blues legend: Chicago Bound and Bright Lights, Big City are two good clean blues standards.
