anybody else think it's funny that the pictures/evidence are gone now?

As for having water around for the woodies,you don't have to have a big body of water. There is not a lake or pond within 4 miles of my house. I have a pair of woodies that have a tree on a creek behind my house and have raised duckling's the last two years. They have been in my parents pool several times. You need to give them to a rescue agancy to mke sure they live. You probally can't return them back to wild and survive now.

Misbigdawg1234, I had a similar situation years ago my wife's son came up with 4 little woodies. He said they were walking down the road by his house. I told him he shoulda left them alone. No body of water for miles either. We had a 2 acre pond but just dumping them there didn't make sense. Since the wife always had chickens, ducks, etc. , we put them in a little coup. Three died that night. The one though survived and in 2 months became a pretty drake woody. We released him in the pond where he stayed and 2 weeks later a wild hen got with him and after hanging around for awhile they left. Never saw them again. Maybe somethin got'em. Years later I jumped a pair outa there. Wondered if it was them. You want to condem me go ahead. But lotta you people don't know everything and maybe oughta give somebody the benefit of the doubt sometimes. Wood ducks sometimes nest in hollow trees far from water. ...who knows whether they get to water or ever make it.

Wood ducks require several types of habitat including nesting, rearing, and feeding. They normally nest in natural cavities, usually within one-half mile of a suitable water area. The closer the nest is to water the better, but the nest may be as far as 4 to 5 miles from where the female normally feeds and rests.

Well, I happen to think it's cool to have WD's running around in the back yard. I too would get excited as any of us other hardcore duck hunters on here I would imagine. Just as excited as I was too see a deer eating corn out of my back yard in New Orleans a year or so ago!!! It is something that just aint supposed to happen. So anyway I think most of you all are going way to hard on this guy. There is no picture, so I am assuming that this is no joke. If you have kids and you want them to see ducks and then they show up in your yard and in your excitement you go and catch some of them to show your kids, I can understand. Granted, I wouldn't have done that, but I can at least see how it could happen. Then everyone goes and jumps on top of this guy instead of maybe pointing out that he has bent the law and go over it with him. I think everyone has probably at some point in their lives been in a postiion where they could have done something like this with something, ducks, beer, heck I don't know. I don't at all agree with what was done, but I think there are better ways to approach this matter than ripping a guys head off. Especially one that has three posts on here and probably doesn't know what he is doing. Everyone has to learn, some the hardway, some the easy.

oh he had pics of the ducks. The best thing would have been to watch them and see that nothing got to them and maybe see where they were going.Protection from a far as the case may be.

You could say the same thing about any duck in the wild, so I don't think you can say this with any degree of certainty.
