I have the original Beretta Xtrema (2006) and the only camo finish I seem to be missing is around the action from the ejecting of shells. I use it for ducks and turkey hunting. I have never had an issue with the camo coating. It looks as good as new everywhere else on the gun.

Sounds like the rest of you have chosen inferior weaponry...

I have a very early Browning Gold, and the factory camo is turning a little "yellow" and has been scratched in a few places, but is still in good shape. As said, DEET will dissovle it (and the crystal of your watch, ask me how I know). I have sprayed mine with Formula 409 on occasion, but that is about it. It really does help to have factory camo if you hunt in saltwater.

I have camo duck guns because of the corrosive effects of saltwater. Just don't use a solvent based cleaner on the finish. If it'll eat paint, it'll eat the camo. Honestly, after hunting saltwater, I chunk our guns in the shower and giv 'em a good hot bath of fresh water to clear any salt, dry them off, and re-oil. Every now and then, even use a mild dish soap. Just rinse very thoroughly, and re lubricate with you favorite oil.
Seems to work for me.
