I give my dogs ProHeart 6. It is an injectable six-month heartworm prevention. ProHeart 6 provides a full six months of protection in a single injection as a sustained release product. In addition, ProHeart 6 treats existing larval and adult hookworm infections. I like the convenience of the six month shot.
If I had a second choice, it would be Advantage Multi. Advantage Multi is a topical solution applied once a month to your dog. The nice thing about Advantage Multi is it covers fleas, heartworms, hookworms, roundworms and whipworms. The “remember to apply” factor comes back into play with Advantage Multi. I really don’t think you could go wrong with either one.
