1. Waders, guns, clothes $2,000
2. Boat and motor $15,000
3. Hunting lease $5,000
The look on 8 very suprised mallards as they realize they have just
landed in our decoy spread: Priceless!

Talked to a buddy yesterday telling me how he had gotten the cost of his new shotgun down to $100 a duck!
You can not apply economics to hunting.

I know you can't, good gosh my meat to mile ratio is real wacked. Just thought that was a perfect set up for a funny.
Mack's, Cabela's, and your local sporting goods store are counting on you so go out a buy some more junk!!!!!

Never, never do this

Never do an analysis of how much it costs per duck (or per pound if you shoot a lot of teal!) or esle you will appear totally out of touch with good accounting principles, not to mention being totallly irresponsible with your money.
But, if you don't heed the above warning, you must also include the cost of gasoline, truck, dog, dog training and dog health maintenance, shotgun shells, gun repairs, decoys, waders, clothing...........Ok, OK, I said not to do this

If the wives ever figure out what it costs per oz of meat, we all in trouble!

I disagree Gad. I still believe that most "Hunting Widows" would pay double what you spend now to get rid of us for the weekend!! One weekend I decieded not to go duck hunting and spend the weekend at home. By the time my wife quite complaning about me complaning, she now usually insists that I leave asap on Friday afternoon...

Priceless

Nope. Just the opposite. All about perception. Consider: did we take our wives out and buy them just some ol piece of $5.5/pound piece of beef? He11 no! We suffered and struggled and agonized (you know how cold and wet is can get out ther); worked and scouted to provide them with $250/pound waterfowl! The most expensive thing we could have put on teh table. Who loves you, baby?!

You can feel one of two ways on this wife wanting you to go hunting for the weekend....
1. If she helps you pack your truck, beware, makes you wonder if Jody will be by when you leave!!
2. If she helps you pack your truck, pray that Jody will come by so she'll leave you alone to hunt all weekend without any interruptions!!!
The smell of success...a wet dog!
