Does anyone have tips for duck hunting Okeefe WMA near Clarksdale? Also should I use a boat to hunt it? All tips and replies will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I've never hunted it before. But my tip would be to take the time needed to become familiar with the area well before hunting season. And scout, scout, scout, the area until you find where the ducks are currently using. By currently, I mean within the past 12 hours if possible. It doesn't take much for ducks to change their patterns, and your best bet would be if you could be there immediately after finding them.
I don't know if they let you hunt past noon on that area, but the afternoons would be a good time to scout. Even if they do let you hunt the afternoon, I wouldn't suggest you run them out of the area by pounding that afternoon, I would suggest you get there really early the next morning to secure your spot.
Since you're a brand new member of this board, I wouldn't expect to get any specifics from anyone here who doesn't know you personally. Even if they do know you personally, some of these guys are so secretive ( myself included ) that wouldn't expect to get offered any specifics. And really, all I've told you is just common sense.
Good luck to you, and welcome to this community.

a boat at O'Keefe?? no place for one. tons of deer hunters there.... even in the greentree area where they are not supposed to be.
fairly good place to bowhunt if you have a big 4wd 4-wheeler and can get back to where they are. rice fields south of there smacked the ducks last year, but there were almost none in O'Keefe.

Yeah I've been hunting the area around O'keefe for about 10 years and have never seen any ducks even using it. But like said, the rice fields and bean fields around it do pretty damn good. My advice on O'Keefe? Don't go. Ive only ever heard of a few woodies being pulled out of there.

In the late 80's/early 90's, we used to limit out in O'Keefe all the time. Only problem was a limit was 3 ducks each. Unless it has changed, you can only take in 15 shells, and you have to be out of the greentree by noon.

I have never hunted Okeefe, but, have found that the best source of information for other areas is the area manager. I would start at the district office for that management area and go from there. I have found them to be more than helpful. I would also look at arieal photos and topo maps. You'd be amazed at the things you can figure out with a good photo and topo map.

In the late 90's we did Ok there, had to fight the crowd, Robbie Kehnl is the area manager and is very helpfull, just obey the rules and fill your card out properly and he will be glad to help.
