I have a 19 month old and by all means do not think I am saying I want to take her in the next 2-4 years.....but how soon???? Asking for oppinions!!

I took my oldest on his first hunt when he was 3. I wrapped him up and set him in a little jon boat and tied the boat to my waste and started wading. I got to my hole and pushed the boat up into the grass. I killed one woodie that day and he loved it. He really loved me wading through the swamp and seeing the beavers and other ducks fly. He wanted to hold the gun when I was wading out. So I unloaded it, breached it, and layed it in his lap. He went went back home and told everybody that he was a duck hunter now.

I killed my first duck when I was six with a single shot .410.

My 3 year old grand daughter loves going with Grandpa. However all 3 year olds may not be ready. I agree totally with Judge JB. They will let you know.

When they can carry the decoys.

My 2 girls ages 12 & 8 both have experienced the outdoors of hunting and fishing. They each went when they were about 2-3 years old. The oldest girl since then has eased up on the hunting trips which is fine. But the youngest girl loves to go hunting and fishing! I mainly wanted the kids to see what hunting/fishing was really about, not just shooting and killing but the time it takes to set up the decoys or get into a deer blind, and then the process of skinning/cleaning the game once harvested! My youngest one now chomps at the bit to get to go whenever she can. But like all have stated before, the kids will be the true indicator of when they are ready. Just don't be to anxious for them to get there and be totally still and quite...If they choose not to go when they are old enough to decide for themselves, at least they have experienced the outdoors and its beauty...Remeber they are kids, let them enjoy it as well as yourself, and you'll have a true hunting buddy forever!!

Those 19 month old's are easy to tote. I'd take her now...she weighs less than a dozen weighted dekes. JUST KIDDING! I think the gate gets opened when their Mama say it's ok. My son went dove hunting with me at 3. He is almost 6 and can last in a duck blind for a little over 2 hours. My daughter probably won't go until she is 5. I am saving all of my son's stuff for her though!

I know...I know.....mostly rebels and dawgs on dis board but they is a few of us eagles here too!!!!!!

If that girl ain't sleeping in mossy oak PJ's cuddled up with a Daffy Duck stuffy and sucken on an ole southern you might as well forget it cause mom's not gonna let you change her now! DAMN...I hope I never get to the point where I refer to my sweet little girls as that!

When guy's and I are chatting we might refer to our girl's as tomboy's,splittails or just plain out daughters with no derogatory message intended and i assume that's what this forum is GUY TALK!
But when talking with Lady's it's ALWAY'S "my sweet little angels" which they truly are. There's No One on this God's green earth that Love's and treats their kids better than I do mine and I take offense to anyone that says differently. It must be one real dull day in the blind with you. Get Real DUDE!

took hannah dove hunting at 2 3/4 yrs old and duck hunting later that year at 3 yrs old...her favorite memory is us shooting a snake last year DUCK hunting in JANUARY! a copperhead nonetheless. She wants to go deer hunting with me this year, but haven't taken her as of yet.
