Migration Alert

I just received a migration alert from http://www.waterfowler.com stating that two Arctic weather systems out of Canada have started the first big migration push of the year. "Flight birds have been leaving the Dakotas for the past 24 hours and heading to Oklahoma and Nebraska". You guys are going to have a GREAT season and it looks like you wont have to wait untill Jan. 15 to get started. We may even have some decent numbers in N C this year. Best of luck to you.

Man I sure hope that you are right about us having a good season. I also can't wait for some cold weather to get rid of all of the mosquitoes!!!

Report on the trappin' forum for Western MN is 1.5" of ice on the ponds. Move 'em out!

Keep those good reports coming. Lookinnn gooooood. Can't wait. Heck, we may even have some puddle ducks make it all the way to north Florida before the last day of the season (that's when a few finally showed up last year.)

Some fellows over here in SC just got back from ND and said the small potholes are freezing up but larger water was still open and fields are not covered with snow completely yet. Said they seen more gads than in years past but not as many mallards in years past either. Some more guys are leaving out Saturday to go up there and hunt said if it was all froze up they were driving south until they found ducks in states that have their season open.
Rob how is dove hunting in early January at your place? Seemed like last year we seen some but do not remember exactly. While we across the river wacking ducks in the morning we might opt to come check you out for some doves and maybe with the tator farmers for some more of those sky carp.

Saw about four huge flights of snows yesterday while bowhunting in NE Warren County. Been seeing a good many birds lately. I Believe we'll be alright this season.

I saw the same group of snows yesterday morning while in northern Warren county.

lots of duck and goose activity riding down on this front in my area.. have saw lots of ducks and a few flights of canadas... my hole was full thursday morn.....

Well, ya'll just keep on sendin' them down! Speck season opens tomorrow and I'm gonna be in the pit!!! Don't know how many snows we will have down, haven't seen many yet, but am hopeful. Nothin' like and opportunity to shoot dumb snows, that sure won't last for long. Hopefully it will dry out down here some so we can get our field buffaloed and actually have some birds feeding in it, right now don't knwo what to expect for openin' day, but by God I'll be out there and then I can give a real migration report for down here.
