The first breath of Fall rolled out of the prairies of Canada, traveled down the MS and Ohio Valleys, climbed the Appalachians, and rolled into the foothills overnight. When I took my dog out early this morning, I saw the first frosty breath of the year. Both the dog and I seemed to walk a little lighter and breathe a little deeper. As I rode crossed the Yellow River bottom on my way to work, a large group of wood ducks pitched into the swamp right by the road and a doe and two fawns were standing in the middle of a hay field. It just seemed as if every living thing was a bit more expectant this morning; there just seemed to be more possibility in the air! Can the fall colors of the red maple and the yellow-orange of the hickory be far behind? I can feel the beginning tremble of that annual urgency called the fall migration starting! Thanks to my incredible Creator God for waking me from a months-long summer slumber and giving me a morning like this one! I feel too good this morining not to share it with you guys!

Great post Crow. I am so glad that you are there to enjoy this time of year. Down here on the coast, it will be a long time before I can see my breath or Boeuf's. Keep in touch with your weather and post it that will help me pass the time down here (where it is miserable hot). Jack

Crow, you got me all ready for fall to make it to North Florida. We are still having record breaking highs and they say Klye is going to keep the somewhat cooler air away until next week. Is it duck season yet??? Man I am ready.

Crow, Headed to center hill lake this weekend to try to catch a some of that cool weather Maybe we will catch the leaves starting to change along with a catching a few trout.,

C&N, good luck on the trout. I am supposed to go up in the N. GA mtns. this weekend near Ellijay to camp on Mountain Town Creek. It's private property where the owner lets me and a couple of other guys stock the trout. Sometimes we get into one that's been there awhile. Fresh caught trout cooked over hot coals will hopefully be on the menu tomorrow night (rain may postpone the trip, though). The 3rd week in Oct. is usually the best time to see the colors up there, so I'm a little early. Some of the poplars and sweetgum ought to be turning already, though. The fall colors in the mountains are one of Gods' best gifts to us. To a boy from the delta flatlands, those mountains have always been a mystery and a marvel. Have a good trip.
