Bible Question
I've enjoyed reading...
The thing I've noticed about folks that espouse predestination-- they and their kids are always "elected".
Me, I'll stick with Romans 10.13, "For WHOSOEVER calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved".
Hayes, I'd prefer to say He predestined all who call in faith to be saved.

No one has an answer to this?mudsucker wrote:ACEINTHEHOLE wrote:Youth Minister here so take it for what it't worth. As a Christian first, then Baptist I belive once saved always saved. So no matter how you die if you are saved then you will not got to hell. As far as the Bible saying it I am not aware of anywhere in the Bible that says if you commit suicide you will go to hell.So if you die while murdering someone, but call your self saved, you get in at 'da pearly gates?

If it's muder, then no. Remember , murder is intentional, and God knows the motives of our heart.
What is really good here, is that this thread has generated a lot of discussion, and everyone has kept there cool and been respectful to each other. No faster way to make the unsaved run the other direction than when there is division withen the body of Christ.Just remember this as we discuss this and it will be beneficial to others.
One other thing to remember is, we all have our opinions, and are intitled to them , but God's Word is eternal and our opinion's are just that- or opinions.

so what you are saying is if I am saved and I am protecting my family and happen to kill a guy and his friend kills me then I will not get to see the Kingdom of God?

37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 of my favorite verses in the Bible. I am doing a study centering on Romans 8:37 with the College age class on Sunday mornings. Hyper Nikaeo (more than conquerors- or over and beyond victory) lets us know that through Jesus we cna be come more than conquerors over sin. We are all in a war everyday with sin. But with Jesus we can win the battles and because I am saved I have won the war. Thanks for letting me share and God Bless!

Murder is no greater a sin then any other. It to was paid for when he died on the cross and If we truly accepted him and believe in our hearts and then we murder someone we are still saved. We do nothing to earn salvation so how can we do anything to lose it. If that was the case no one and I mean no one would enter it based on that.
Just thought I would throw in these 3 scriptures pertaining to the original question.
Matthew 12:31, Luke 12:10 and Mark 3:28
"I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven: he is guilty of an eternal sin." Mark 3:28
The footnote in my Bible says Jesus was referencing when the teachers of the law attributed Jesus' healing to Satan's power rather than the Holy Spirit. We had a sermon once about the "undpardonable sin." The preacher that talked to us explained it as denying the Holy Spirit and dying unsaved as the only sin that couldn't be forgiven, hence, dying without accepting Christ as your savior. I probably don't have the whole concept together but that's how I understand it.
Good question, crowder critter. I'm glad everyone has responded in a mature manner and not resorted to the bashing that usually follows this type thread.

No, i guess it was still too early in the morning when i typed that. No, i believe God expects us to protect our families, friends, folks that we may be responsible for, (ie. employees) >Maybe that would fall under that heading of "providing for our families as we are commanded to do,
I can see where one would take a few versus and turn them into be able to fall from grace but the way I understand it is Jesus interceded for me and everyone on the cross. all sins have been paid for, if we believe and accept. So Jesus has interceded for me and my sins are forgiven as if I have never sinned, then I appear before God as clean as a white sheet.
Hayes wrote:The versus in eph and gal are refering to people who do not have the spirit in them.
as far as predestination and the fact that God has hand picked who is saved and who is not that is way off base. He has predestined all of us to be saved.
Okay, but remember, Paul was preaching to the churchs in Ephesus and Galatia at the time. Therefore, most of those that he was writing to were saved already.
The entire passage leading up to versus
16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
