my dad explained to me when i was young that it is the responsibility of those of us that know better to guide those that obviously don't, and that the advantage of being older and/or having more expirience means that not only are we smarter, but we are craftier, and a hellava lot sneakier in our vengence.
lesson 1 for the day for all topwaters whether you are stuck in the position permently, or just have a farting topwater moment(we are all guilty of this sometimes), remember the golden rule of duck hunting, don't do to someone else what you don't want done to you(blow through another mans spread, set up right on top of him) etc etc etc. the consiquences can really suck!!!!
lesson 2. be polite and curtious when your hunting, whether it be on private or public, we as hunters are now more than ever in the public eye, we represent our sport everytime we don waders and go to the water
Thank God I found a guy like this to help me when i was first starting out. Still ain't no expert, but a helluva lot better off because of him!

Re: Definition of a "topwater"
Man i tellya what I am tired after readin this last night at 1130 I promptly got up and headed out in the driveway. Not the garage cause my lifted truck with big tires won't fit, I commenced to taking all the stickers off my back glass. I did leave the Delta Waterfowl, and Du Donor sticker(hope thats ok). I then broke out the 4 way and started takin my big tires off, and putting the donut stocks back on. Afterwards I was satisfied till I remembered the Camo clad accent strip on the bottom panel so there I went. Since my truck was straight now I headed back into my MAN CAVE, broke out the call lanyard, took six of my eight calls off and added a pintail whistle. I then located a screwdriver and started taking all the counterfit bands off the lanyard. I then realized that I do have matching camo although bought at different times I decided to part out so none of it matched. May even go back to plaid wool this year just to be safe. Then I realized my truck was somewhat clean so back out to the drive I went, with a shovel and started scooping mud and throwing it on my truck. With that done I hung the shovel back in place and realized the Robo- ducks so I took them down to make sure thay were all working so as to sell them. Now I need a mentor so there will soon be an add in the classifieds for that position to be filled. Finally at this time after no sleep I am done, 12 hrs later. There will be a listing for stickers, camo thing for the bottom of truck,12 robos, 6 calls all custom $120+ calls, several gimick bands, lots of drake brand camo, and a set of 35X12.50x17 tires on aftermarket rims.
Yes i am very bored, this has been a dramatization to show how much money it would cost to be a topwater plug. Plus I like my big tires!
