MY gah, let's not take this out of context here. Croakers, snapper, etc.. in a discussion about varmit killin'? Point is a place like youtube really is not the best place to put stuff like this up. You gotta quit thinking on your terms sometimes and thinking on the anti's terms and the general public's terms. They won't see this discussion...or your Esher drawing comparison  , but they will see the video.

yep

yep, your correct, they will not see it but its the truth.. thats the problem with those types...the majority probably dont eat cow anyway,,,just its always a one way street with these arguements about this kind of killing...I say if you concerned about this "collateral damge or by catch" you should be concerned about all of it. thats my point, the list go on and on and on, and on.

Guys, these gophers really are a problem. Went to Montana this past spring, there are ranchers out there that will PAY YOU to shoot them. 1000 in 4 hours sounds awful steep, but you can kill a lot of them. And they really are doing damage. What if you had 100 rats in your house, or 50 armadillos digging in your yard, or 50 moles for that matter. They are nuisance animals that are doing way more harm than good. Prarie dogs are even worse, they make holes you could get a tractor stuck in. Rock chuck are even worse. A rancher told me that 2 of them will eat as much as a full grown cow in one day. They are literally competing with the cattle for food. And up there where the winters get like they get, they need all the food they can get just to survive the winter.

As far as youtube, prolly not the best place to host it. But if he planned on hosting for a few days for "us" to see and then removing it, not a big deal. I've shot them, don't have anything against it, it's actually quite fun, but you're also doind someone a favor at the same time.

Just to make everyone happy, I'll remove the video from youtube and I'll post it on photobucket later today and repost the link. That way, only people who want to watch it can. I wasn't trying to post it to start up a bunch of soap box discussions, it was just for fun.

Don't kill ground hogs, gophers, prairie dogs, armadillos, hogs, mice in your house, snakes in your yard, mosquitoes, wasps, coyotes, rabid wolverines, weasels, bigfoot, or the lochness freaking monster if you don't plan on eating it. Do I have it right?

Alright. It is now on photobucket so the only people that can see it are people that see the link to it on here or people I e-mail it to. If you don't want to see small animals losing vast quantities of their body, dont click on the link.

Tombstone, not sure whether you were aiming your response at me or not, but let me clarify, I am not opposed to killing these animals and then not eating them. In fact, most of what you named off I will kill and not think twice about it, even if they are not doing economic damage. True, there are quite a few animals I won't kill, but nuisance animals are not one of them.

I have spent quite a few days shooting gophers and prarie dogs for ranchers. I did it for free, because it is fun, but they will actually offer you money to do it.

Maybe they need to trap some predators up in canada that are destroying nests and eating eggs and transplant them to the regions of the country with the gopher/ground hot or whatever you call them problem. I see folks all the time on TV shooting "predators" such as coyote's bobcats etc...and I guarandamntee you they ain't eating them.

Just so everyone knows what I am saying exactly, I had no prob. with the shooting them and not eating them. It just didn't seem like youtube was the best place to host the video.
