just curious, if you liked the super x 2, why buy something else?

I love my berretta's. Been shooting a AL391 24" for the past four yrs, but I took a stupid pill and bent the barrell the other day. Oh well great excuse to go buy an Extrema 26" 9 shots 6 birds the one time i've used it.

Also I would look at the Franchi if price is an issue. If you didn't know Beretta, Franchi, Benelli, and Stoeger are all owned by the same parent company. Beretta&Franchi Gas Operated vs. Benelli & Stoeger inertia operated. I've shot them all and prefer the gas ops.

I opted for the beretta because of the feel and the tall vent rib on the franchi.

I sold guns for about 2 years and found out real quick what guns are reliable and not. Which ones require more maintenance and not!

I've shot a Remington 870 since I was 12 and of course never a problem.

Its safe to say never or next to never will problems occur with the 870.
The only thing I ever heard was the first super mags did not like 2 3/4 shells or it wouldn't like 3 1/2 shells.

I just got a Nova and love it!

Now that limits you to pump action but there would be my two choices. Then I'd say the Mossberg 835.

Franchi 912 Varimax 12 Ga 24" barrel - Handles all lenghts of shells, good fire power for open water at a good price tag.

Charles Daly Field Hunter 20 Ga 26" barrel great for timber shooting, lightweight and fun to shoot

For the money, you cant beat a Mossberg 835. I have a good many shot guns, but you cant break this thing.

Remington 870, 26" barrel with a modified choke tube...can't beat it and I also own a Browing Gold that I have had for 3 years with only one misfire and I think that was a bum shell.

Beretta AL390 24" barrel. I like the hump on the receiver(a more relaxed version of the Browning A5 shape). I hated to see them round over the receiver on the 391's.

I also like the short barrel (not appreciated by my hunting partners as it tends to be way louder to sit next to someone shooting a short barrel). When I used a ported choke tube one time, the blast seemed exaggerated...needless to say I leave it at home if we are hunting from a blind or pit.

I mostly shoot modified choke with Remington Hevi-shot. That stuff flat knocks 'em down without even a wiggle.

870- My first and most reliable duck gun, always keep it nearby in case of emergencies or a buddy needs a gun to shoot.

Nova-good, but shoots way different than 870, got it for 3.5's had to replace the magazine spring as it didn't want to spit the 3.5's out. Works good now. Also, I added the stock recoil compensator, made a huge difference especially with those high velocity 3.5 hevi shot.

Stoeger 2000- Now my number one gun for ducks. I can hit with it and and it has been super reliable. It cycles really fast too.. Wish it shot 3.5's but figure If I can shoot so well with it and use 3 inch Hevi Shot I don't need all them extra pellets. Only complaint is the recoil is heavy as to be expected with a light gun, probably best 3.5's don't fit.

I might consider a SBE II if I start hunting the delta alot more and get after the geese. Just can't justify the cost.

I would rather buy a stoeger and two cases of Hevi Shot

Super X2 is my favorite with out a doubt. Ive shot em all.

Browning BPS, but remember it's heavy.

For dux...I got me a Nova, 26" barrel, black synthetic, 3 scew in factory chokes.... fires evertime, easy breakdown, kicks like a mule, cheap, and kills the crap out of ducks. This gun is disposable...if it ever broke, or, gave me a problem, throw it away and buy another one. You could still buy 4 or 5 for the price of one upscale gun. My favorite shotgun to shoot...an old Rossi side by side 20 gauge. Light as feather, never missfires...breaks down in seconds, literally. Actually....Ive only had one gun my whole life I didnt like...a Tauras .380 auto, that, was a bonafide POS. Y'all have a nice day!

Kaustin: I had always heard that the SBE's were worth the money and just wanted to find out for myself. Basically I just wanted one.

i have used alot of others but you can buy a life time supply of 835s for what one of those others cost. 350 and 1300 are along way apart. i would of probaly still used the 870 but it wouldnt shoot 3.5 and they had several problems when they 1st hit. didn t like the nova it felt funny to me and couldnt shoot it good. i am very pleased with mossberg. i know they are cheap and all but hell that makes it even better when you cant tear it up.

Browning A5 12 Gauge Magnum, matt finish with synthetic, 30 inch barrel, modified choke. But they are hard to find.
