I think it is one of those tamey shoots. I think this is their web site. http://www.deltaducks.net These tame duck shoots seem to be gettting popular with the folks that live east of Mississippi. What they do is flight train the tame ducks and simulate a true wild duck hunt with guaranteed kills, but it ain't huntin as far as I am concerned. I hate to see "duck hunting" come to this, but if some Orvis waring SOB wants spent $350 to shoot 8 tame ducks, more power to him. I'm sure it will be good for the local economy.

I know the guy that owns it and he's a total a-hole....

He's known for going around and making high bids on people's leases without any plans of paying it, just to get the guys leasing the place to match the bid. And if he did by chance get the land, it was only for one yr, and he and his buddies killed anything and everything in sight......then left it.

Most of your hunting will be on those catfish ponds, and it's not worth the money, nor is he.

I saw an ad for these guys. $200 guided $100 unguided. They replied trying to sell me a lease. Kinda fishy.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Stay away from any leasing options from these people. They've taken whatever wildlife off the land and will leave you with nothing and all the money for them.

Ease up, fellas. Mr. Jimmy Donahoo runs that place and his main attraction is flight conditioned mallards and deer hunts. He has excellent property to hunt for both. There are several nice swamps on his place that attract their fair share of wild birds.

Yes, a game preserve can set the limits on how many of their "pen raised" birds you can kill, in this case it is 8, with the option to shoot more for an additional cost. Those pen raised birds have to have a 1/4 inch hole punched in the outer web of the right foot before they are 6 weeks old, to distinguish them from wild mallards(see title 49 of the Mississippi Code) That's right, they can only take 4 wild mallards on their preserve. So as long as no more than 4 of your mallards have "non-holey" feet, then you're cool.

I've known Mr. Donahoo most of my life, and have never had any bad dealings with him. His operation is unique, in that there are only a handful of preserves in the nation. If somebody wants to shoot on a preserve, then that's their choice. And as far as the price he's charging, I don't think it's too far out of line for that type of operation. He's done alot of work on his lodging quarters, and has invested in alot of equipment for that operation.

Different strokes for different folks.

If Wingman says its cool then "its cool" I have e-mailed people that have dealt with Fowl Mood and every one of them had nothing but good things to say. I am planning to hook up with Fowl Mood later in the seoson. Thanx for your input. P.S. Are they flying yet? (Mike Wood)
