FOOTBALL TOPIC! BEWARE!
Found this on the net while surfing. Thought some of the Ole Miss boys would appreciate it, if they have not seen it already.

what about the other sports
Looks like they will have to have different mascots for the basketball and baseball teams. I can't see bruiser in hightops on the court.

If the two finalists aren't bad enough...........they were chosen over these samples.........which to me are a heckuva lot better than mr. clean and his counterpart.......

Guys, I am a student at Ole Miss right now. Let me tell you the student body is to say the least highly irratated. We voted a few weeks ago and 94% voted to keep Colonel Reb. The people who are running this place now have got to be crazy. Alumni donations have fell through the floor. If any of you have 3 million laying around you can have your name put on the new indoor practice facility, cause that is how much they are short after alot of the big money givers have pulled there funding.
I can promise one thing, if they do get rid of colonel reb then the name rebels is next. This place will not get a dime from me after I graduate and most people I have talked to have said that.
Before it is all said and done this place will be the university of "NORTH" Mississippi.

that is understandable. They only let you vote on two crappy looking mascots. Those other ones that they had drawn up actually looked really good. They didn't look like the steroid crazed monkeys that are the options now. What is sad is that one of those queer looking things is going to be yall's mascot.

This is the e mail the school has just sent a little while ago to the students.
The University of Mississippi is ending its search for a
new on-field mascot, citing poor participation in its
online poll and lack of consensus for either proposed
mascot.
Of the approximately 40,000 Ole Miss fans who were
qualified to vote, some 2,400 participated in the poll,
preferring Rebel Bruiser over Rowdy Rebel by a margin of
2,080 to 344.
"It is clear from the responses received and from general
public discussion that there is no community support for
either of the proposed mascots," said Chancellor Robert
Khayat. "Therefore, the matter is closed."
Athletics Director Pete Boone agreed.
"Based on the number of votes, declining participation and
opinions gathered from several sources, continuing the
polling makes very little sense," Boone said.
"There is not a clear mandate from our students or fans to
accept either of the images," he said. "Therefore, I can
not recommend either mascot to represent Ole Miss
Athletics."
Although there will be no on-field mascot, the University
will continue to license merchandise bearing the Colonel
Rebel logo.
"More important to the teams than any mascot is the support
of our Ole Miss family," Boone said.
"I regret that this has become such a divisive issue," he
said. "It is now time to move forward."
Said Khayat, "This is Homecoming Weekend, and we want all
Ole Miss people to enjoy the weekend without being
distracted by this issue."
