I personnally am a fan of one spinner in the spread on a sunny day. You say what you want about flaring birds, but I don't see it.... And being that it's Monday morning, and I'm feeling a little fiesty, I'm ready to stand behind my opinions. I see plenty of birds throughout the year, and the only times I see birds flare off a spinner is in the clouds.

ya know, we've had the verbal wars over this before............you, me, and probably 90% of the folks here at one time or another. just ain't worth it to me anymore.....i'd rather state my opinion, allow others to do the same and move on down the highway.

if it'll make you feel better, i'll yield and state there's no doubt in my mind you are far and away more knowledgable on said subject of ducks flaring off spinners or not than I? cool

my opinion is like this here.. when they first came out they were great. but i think birds have got educated to them.. i've seen them work in timber and on foggy/lo visibility mornings, seen ducks pay no attention to them, and probably seen them hurt a hunt as many times as they helped. if i'm in open water i feel more comfortable without one... my 2 cents

Use a jerk Cord, I use one now and you can't beat it!! Also, it's not one of the fancy jerk spreaders you pay good money for! It's a bunch of decoys strung together with a bunge cord at one end hooked to a tree!! Save your money and do what they've been doing for years and years, and it always worked!!!

what does anybody think of the mojo floater or whatever its called thats on the water....and i ran a string in the hole of a brick and tied it to my decoys and pulled it and it pulls down and made them look like they were feeding I did it for the first time this morning and killed the limit

My personal experience: I've hunted over 'em with some success in the past, but as of this year and sometimes last year I've seen birds flare at 'em. I'm a fan of the old jerk string for creating motion.

All you guys talk about the jerk string to create motion during the robo dispute. Now my question is how are they related? Does a mojo create motion in the water? If I have one do I not need to create motion in the water? Can i not use a jerk string and a robo? Does a jerk string catch there attention on a sunny day from half a mile away?

I don't see any reason why a jerk rig and a mojo can't be utilized together. I guess when to use either one of them or both together should boil down to what type of situation you're hunting in, such as how pressured the birds are, whether or not there's enough wind/wave action to create motion in your spread, visibility conditions, etc. Also, as with any other technique or tool, proper use is critical because using something incorrectly or in the wrong situation can be worse than not using it at all. Oh yeah as far as sunny days go, it seems that the ripples from a jerk rig could be seen pretty easily because of the reflections from the sunlight on the water.

If used properly, yes. Maybe more.

I enjoy what I think of as tradition.

I can kinda understand while people might use them, I just don't want to be one of them.

I have been known to shoot them off of their pole.
