Mr. Ron Chapman out of Chalmette. http://www.pirogue.com That's where I got mine...real nice fella as far as I know. I drove down there and picked it up. One day I'd like to get a larger one, but I have the small one and love it....35 pounds, super-easy to paddle and will float on a heavy dew!

I thought I wanted a pirouge until I "test drove" a friend's this Spring. I'm way too uncoordinated to keep myself dry in one of those things.

A lot of guys really like them. I could use one to "haul" my gear around while wade hunting, only occationally as a boat.

My two cents.

wildfowler, i'm kinda worried bout that too and was looking at the stealth which at least seems a little more sturdy but i am not in the position to pay for one...but i need something so this seems like the best choice...

Hey Gator, new to this forum thought I would give some advice on piroque. If you get a piroque try to avoid the straight bottom. By that I mean get one with camber or arch from end to end . It needs to have a flat bottom and wide as possible. I shot out of a round bottom one time and tumped over: it was like sitting in a half pipe. The straight ones are like trying to balance on a 2x12. The ones with arch put you ih the center, in the rocking chair. Hard to find the arched ones. I had a wooden one for years made from one 4x12 sheet of marine plwood, it was a dream. I could even sit high on a bucket and still be OK. I've got a staight fiberglass bought used. I only go in mostly shallow areas so if I tip I just step out of it. Mine no longer holds me, dog and dekes, but I can mannage with only dekes and Duke swims behind. It's handy and I'm trying to rig a flooded field backrest and camo cover for that use.
