Maybe a dumb atv tire question....

Postby crow » Mon Nov 13, 2006 2:49 pm

...but I have done at least one other dumb thing that I can think of.

My Honda Foreman 400 4x4 now has 24-10-11 rear and 24-8-11 tires on it. I am replacing them before the season. My question...

What is the largest tire I can put on these rims without tearing the sucker up? It has bee great with just the stock tires on it, so i don't need the super swamp fox witch digger death tread tires...just some fairly aggressive tires.

Ideas?

25" Titan 589 A/T or 589 M/T

light tires, that is semi-aggressive tread and have a constant center tread that will give a smooth ride on hard pack.

The stock tires the 400 came with were pretty aggressive, had a tractor tire pattern. They pulled good, but didnt last very long on hard surfaces.

I think you'll find that your limiting factor is going the size of your rim. There are many larger sizes available if you had a 12" rim.

I don't know of any 26" tires that are available for 11" rims. If you were to step up to a 26" tire, the lug grips are generally speaking going to be deeper than the lugs on a 25" tire.

There are probably some exceptions to this, 26" tires are usually more aggressive than their smaller counterparts. It may also be possible to trade your rims in for a set of used 12 inch rims. Especially if it will cinch the deal on buying a new set of tires. Personally, I would look at getting a set of 26" ITP 589's for that ATV.

Good luck.

i've looked in Cabela's and they have them in the smaller rim widths.. my 400 has 12" rims with 8" wide in front and 10" on back..

i like the AT489's.. thinking about trying to find a set locally..
