The supposed #1 QB recruit in the nation, 5 star Gunner Kiel, just committed to LSU. He will enroll in two weeks. Finally, LSU seems to be recruiting decent QBs.

I just hope he pans out better than our last two "#1 QBs in the nation!"

Redshirt him, then let him back up mett for a year . I think it was a big pickup for the tigers but Kiel is about to be shocked by the size and speed of football in the south. Glad w pulled him from ND and all of their "history and tradition".

Sounds as though it's official. Appears DM77 may be correct about the wheels falling off. This sucks, however the way Miles handled the QB situation it's not surprising.

Yep Miles screwed the pooch on recruiting any good QB's after the way he did Lee.

Two weeks ago Thursday LSU lost out on in-state, 5 star recruit Landon Collins to Alabama.
Last Monday, Bama beats LSU worse than they have been beaten in almost a decade in front of the entire country for the title.
Last Tuesday, LSU loses out on 4 star OL commit, Patrick Miller, because he wants to early enroll and LSU does not have room because of the commitment of Gunner Kiel...Miller, with the help of LSU coaching staff apparently, goes to Auburn.
Yesterday, 5 star QB recruit Gunner Kiel decommits without telling the coachings and enrolls in classes at Notre Dame.

Roughly, two weeks before all of this, LSU has a decommitment from a 4 star running back/receiver.

Throw this is with Mo Claiborne, Michaels Brockers and Rueban Randle all deciding to turn pro last week as well.

I cannot remember one college football program going from so high to so low in a matters of weeks like this. LSU, it would now appear, will be fortunate to have a recruiting class ranked among the top 20 (worst class since Dinardo). The basketball team sucks. Baseball team is likely to suck. Golden ages must come to an end. Looks like the end is hear for LSU.

I think its Karma for claiming the J. Jefferson bar beatdown and failed drug tests were "obstacles the team had to overcome."

You heard the talk: "this team has been through so much this season..."

Seriously, they acted like those "issues" were on the same level as Kragthorpes health problems.

Rally around the coach. Don't act like beating up somebody and failing drug tests were circumstances thrown upon them.

Whatever is going on, it sucks. I have been predicting the demise of the LSU football program since 2008. Fortunately, that has not happened up to this point. A large part of that is recruiting being steady even when other aspects the program were not. Recruiting is now starting to dip. With that happening, look for the program to follow suit. Miles is obviously not a top flight coach. He needs to have better talent to win.

Having the best run college football program in the history of college football in your division will only make matters worse. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Saban leaves Bama with three or four more championships before he retires. It is simply amazing what he is doing and I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think he could do it. I was wrong.

Bold statement...right now many preseason polls have LSU as #1 going into the 2012 season. I would not be surprised if LSU finishes outside of the Top 25 next season.

id say that's a stretch...LSU isn't gonna fall that far that fast just cause a couple 3-4 recruits don't come to LSU and some guys leave early. Those are things that happen to every program every year...it takes a 53 man roster and a full coaching staff to win, LSU still gonna bring in lot of talent and still has great coaching staff under Les Miles.

Following you on here, you are typically pessismistic, but I understand that fan approach...but LSU is in way better shape than you think and they won't dip that far, especially no that fast. I see the problem more as a terrible case of the panic button syndrome after the champ game debacle, but whether it's a moral victory or not, winning 13 games and the SEC is nothing to balk at b/c you played a bad champ game against a really good team...LSU fans needs to level out a bit, every little bit of news is being blown up b/c everybody is in shock over the champ game.

Definitely don't think the wheels are falling off but the lug nuts are starting to loosen a bit. All teams loose recruits and your best talent typically will leave early. Everyone knew early in the season that claiborne would be gone now the others are a little surprising. The past few years I have compared miles to tuberville, getting by on pure talent and a lot of luck, but that catches up with you sooner or later.
