I'm located in Vicksburg, MS. Does anyone know of a place near here where I can try different calls? Is there a local callmaker that has a shop in the region? Thanks.

I am open to any particular call, but would like to get a good single reed that I can blow well.

Delta Outfitters on 61 North, aka Hadad's, has a few duck calls in there that are made locally. They look good, but I have never blown them. I doubt Eddie or any of the folks would mind if you wanted to take one outside and let 'er rip to see if you like it.

You're right....Delta Outfitters does have some nice calls made locally, most are double-reeds but have good sound....and I can attest they will let you blow one outside...
and they are reasonable. Good Luck. Neil

I'm actually currently using one of the nice double reeds that they carried in Delta Outfitters. I was just having trouble blowing it soft and sounding good. I was hoping to get a single reed call that I could get real soft with.

I have a RNT Short Barrel and Echo Timber if you want to meet up one day and try them out. They are both single reed. This way if you like one or both you can purchase it knowing what you are going to get.
Other than that, Mack's Prairie Wings is going to be your best bet. They have more than enough calls in their display box for you to blow.

If you're in Vicksburg try Simmons in Bastrop, LA. Last time I was there they had some calls.

You need to holler at rbsdrake. He can hook you up with an Echo that will do what you need.
