I have a friend who lives around New Albany and is looking for a gunsmith. He has a copy of old shotguns he wants repaired. A Winchester 16ga and an old automatic.

Anyone close?

Thanks

I lived in New Albany until 1984, and the only gunsmith I ever knew about was Skeet Hill in Tupelo.

Near New Albany, and especially for old guns, I would strongly recommended Ed Graham (Ed's Gun Shop). He's south of New Albany on Liberty Road, just a small one man shop. But, his quality and attention to detail are top notch and he can work wonders with old or custom guns - and he's just good people. Richie is good, too, but their volume is so high you can get lost in the shuffle. My dad's LC Smith sat there for over a year until I went and got it, unfixed. Just wasn't a priority I guess.

In the past 2 months I've had buddies of mine rake their browning gold hunters up there to swann's after dropping em off for cycling problems. After 2 of em paid close to 100 bucks having them change the springs out, they get em shoot them and still same problem, just less often. Thy bring em to me cussing the name swann and ask what they need to do. I break the gun down and low and behold, looks like it hadn't been cleaned in 5 years. Long story short, cleaned em top to bottom and not a prob since. Im pretty sure if I owned a gunship that's something that would get done to a gun regardless. Needless to say I do all the work to em now. Not gonna pay for them to do something I feel like a 10 year old could figure out.

Tldr: I agree, don't go to swann's
