Where I normally hunt, i very rarely use over a dozen decoys. I was thinking about nutting up and throwing down the coins for a dos Dakotas with flocked heads and putting them in a slotted decoy bag. They look good, but the price is hard to swallow. Anybody have and reviews, good, bad or ugly on them?

If you do buy them, you should only hunt alone, because they are so realisic, your hunting buddies WILL shoot them!

I bit the bullet this year and bought a doz. I think they look great very pleased and don’t regret what I paid. Like you I only use about 18 decoys.

On another note Higdon has come out with a fully flocked decoy that looks great I saw one on display this weekend. But there $106 per half dozen that’s a little to much.

I just bought a doz tanglefree foam filled flocked head n tails... They look real good.. Texas rigged them even though I'm gonna carry them in a slotted bag... They are just a little heavy tho..

Love them, they are super realistic. Not really a need for the slotted bag, I haven't had any trouble with chipping.

Slotted bags suck when you get them wet....

Then your lugging around 40lbs of water weight.

And they freeze up to where you can't get deeks back in them if it's pretty cold out

I figure when you get 'em close enough to tell the difference between Dakota's "fully flocked" decoys & a dozen chipped up Flambeau's then they ought to be laying feet up in the decoys anyway...

Well yeah, but my old, flat, paint flaked flambueas dont look much different than trash in the water where I hunt.

Those are definitely worth the price. I bought some last year and they are incredible.

Got another dozen of on this year. Too bad they don't have a fully flock hen for added realism?

for that price you should be able to eat them

Rogers has em for a pretty good price. I have a dozen of these and 6 of the Higdon fully flocked mallards. I think the Higdons look a little better but they are $100 per 6 unless you catch em on sale at the end of the season.

What happens when you get sho nuff gumbo mud on those flocked heads? How easy are they to clean?

I've got some flocked head floaters, but they're not Dakotas. They've been through 3 seasons going on the 4th. Didn't really clean em up real good at the end of the first two years, though I did wash em off and half-@$$ hand washed the heads with soap.

End of last season I brushed them good with soap and water, but they're showing discolored spots from the gumbo now. I'm guessing it would have been different if I'd washed them off after each hunt, but I just wasn't that motivated.

Got a bud who has some new dakotas and he's put scotch guard on the heads. Going to wait and see how that works for him before I try it on any flocked heads of mine.
