Something tells me Arkie gonna tear that booty up! Bama gonna represent the west, then Bama and Arkie gonna have a rematch with Arkie winning it all in a squeaker! LSU gonna wind up in some other bowl away from New Orleans!davidees wrote:...had better worry about them Hogs.

You are probably right. I think this illustrates how screwed up the system is...LSU beats Bama two weeks ago at their place and if LSU loses to Arkansas, Bama jumps LSU and gets to play for the National title in all likelihood.
Moreover, if LSU wins against Arky and UGA, it gets the honor of playing Bama for the national title. In that scenario, Bama actually benefits by a home loss to LSU because they have to play one less game to get to the national title. They will also be a team that didn't even win their own division of their conference playing for the national title.
We need a playoff system badly.

Re: LSU
Arkansas looked just about unbeatable this past weekend. They may be. However, this is the same Arky team that could have easily lost to Vandy and Ole Miss. Same coach that allowed Ohio State to beat them in the Sugar Bowl last year. They seem very different away from the state of Arkansas in their play. I would not be terribly surprised with any outcome to be honest. In 2003, Arkansas came to Baton Rouge with a similar set up and LSU won be a score of 55-24 or something like that. However, Arkansas has basically owned LSU for the last 5 years, so who knows.
My early thought is probably 28-24...one way or the other...haven't decided on a winner yet. Arky will score some points and LSU will score some points. LSU needs to be able to consistently run the ball for long drives and thus reduce Arky's number of possessions. If LSU runs for over 200 yards total, I like their chances. If Arkansas can stop the run, they will likely win and perhaps win fairly easily.

Re: LSU
If Jefferson plays most of the game I don't see them winning. Arkansas will score points and Jefferson can't keep up in my opinion. He is a clock runner not a scorer so if Arkansas gets up it could be ugly and muck the whole BCS up. Alabama is sitting pretty either way.

How crazy is it that 1, 2, and 3 are all SEC West Teams???
Re: LSU
I think thats a great thing for the SEC. Just goes to show the rest of america who runs the show. as far as how things are playing out, Bama is sitting pretty and a loss at home to the only undefeated team holds no weight which is really stupid.(barring we take care of the higs) Its hard to beat a team twice no matter who you are, especially a team as good as bama. Doesnt seem fair but thats how its setup so LSU will just have to step up and run the table.music_man wrote:How crazy is it that 1, 2, and 3 are all SEC West Teams???

Re: LSU
My main complaint with Bama getting a rematch is that while LSU is having to prepare and play a game against the SEC East champ (Georgia ?) Bama is sittting on their booty...Just don't seem right to play for a National Championship when you can't even win your division

Re: LSU
Supposedly, if Oky State beats OU this weekend, there is a decent, albeit, not great, chance that they will jump Bama (assuming LSU wins the weekend) and will play for the national title. Obviously, if OSU beats the crap out of OU, this is even more likely. Moreover, if Stanford wins out and wins the Pac12 championship game, there is a slight chance of them jumping Bama.medic11 wrote:My main complaint with Bama getting a rematch is that while LSU is having to prepare and play a game against the SEC East champ (Georgia ?) If it were any other team but Bama, I would think the above two scenarios would be somewhat likely to play out. The media loves Saban and frankly, Bama is probably at least the second best team in the nation. However, it is just flat wrong that LSU could actually be hurt by beating Bama and that Bama actually benefits by losing to LSU.
LSU played an OU team that didn't win its league in 2003 (lost to K-State in the Big12 title game). After that, there was talk that the BCS would make a rule that you could not play in the BCS title game without winning your conference. I suppose that rule never went into effect.

Next year will be very much the same in the west. Hell, I don't see it changing for the next couple of years.
