dove hunt results?

Postby levi127 » Sun Sep 04, 2011 3:42 pm

How'd everyone do? Especially with this weather I'm sure it messed some hunts up.

I killed 15 Saturday in 45 minutes. Then was there before sun up excited today. Well overcast and windy then started sprinkling. I ended up with 7 after 8hours
May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face, and may the wings of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.
Cheers, Georgie.

All hunters in our group got their two day bag limits....best shooting was during the rain showers.

Not many opportunities but shot well - killed 7 of the 8 birds I shot at.

Hoping to go tomorrow. Have been INNUNDATED by rain!!! I literally would need waders to hunt my millet field behind the house. Rain hasn't slowed enough to go out anyway. Have a field lined up tomorrow hoping the rain slows enough to go. Biggest bummer is they are calling for 30 mph N winds tomorrow and the birds will be coming from the north. Will need LOTS of shells!

Had a great shoot yesterday morning. Talked to several other folks that hunted usual jam up fields and had a hard time firing a shot. Sounded like it was real hit and miss.

We had a good shoot both days. slower Sunday(shot the same field) ....plenty of birds despite the weather that moved alot of them out earlier in the week. Really liked the fact that the stands were marked so people did not get on top of each other.....probably something everbody should consider doing when setting up their fields........Thanks Rob

Fantastic first 2 days. But I'm afraid I'm a little under dressed for this cold weather today.

Killed 13 sat morning, before I started socializing. Sat afternoon I killed 2 and put my gun up and started drinkin and socializing. It rained like a cow pissin on a flat rock most of sunday, so we drank a lil and fried up crappie instead of gettin wet. Woke up this morning and the wind was at gail force, so we cooked breakfast and headed home. Cleveland was not the place for dove hunting the last 2 days.
Damn, i thought I had that one

Is that buddy of yours tryin to blow that call or make love to it?

Aaahh yes, duck hunter math. Where 7 hunters can have 4 in the blind, 6 in the boat, the dog retrieving the last 3 from the field, and they STILL got a 5 man limit. Add to that, everybody limits out in record time, this is the first time we've been able to hunt birds of any kind since spring, and outdoorsmen just naturally have to stretch the tale a might just to make it interesting. Do you know what you have then? Shenanigans!

My report of doves in the rain is totally opposite of what some of you mentioned. It was aweful... there were plenty of birds in the field on Friday afternoon and none to speak of on Saturday(it rained from daylight all day)...
