Anyone shot any of the Double Tap 35 Whelen ammo?

Looks like some impressive numbers on paper! They are offering 5 different loads for it from 180gr up to 310gr.

I think i am going to order some to try out!

This seems like a bad round!

I'd try that 180 grain for sure.. I have loaded the 180, 200 and 225 out of my 358 Win and those 180 are sure a lot easier on the shoulder..

Where are you getting the 180 TTSX? Barnes doesn't even show them on their website. That would be serious bad joo joo over 57 gr (or more) of RL 15

Myself and another hunting buddy have been shooting the Double Tap 200 gr Barnes X for a couple years. They shoot good on paper and are great preformers on game. Not sure if they are worth twice the cost of the Hornady ammo some other guys are shooting. Seems like I ended up with about 55 bucks a box in the double tap and Van's in Brandon had a Hornady for 26.99.

But Yes they are bad booty!

Are the 180s a lot better on wind drift? Love the elevation ballistics! I imagine that a 180 grain .35 caliber bullet loaded at 3000 fps at the muzzle will do the job on anything in north America....and drift less? Maybe?

Not sure on the winddrift part, but they will handle anything in NA

wind won't matter too much under 200-300 yards.

The BC will be pretty crappy I suspect. The 200g FB bullet has a BC of .284

geez, that is getting close to a 300wsm Man, i keep saying it, the more I shoot this caliber and look at it the more I like it. I shot a hog last year with mine (around 350lbs) and it looked like a slaughter house. It is a thumper!!

With ballistics allowed like this...why is there still a need for a "primitive weapon" season in MS other than making you buy another gun if you want to hunt hah....I would just buy a .35 W and let that be the one rifle I used all season! Nice load

holds great groups at 100, but haven't shot past there yet. dug a few of the boolits out of the dirt, they expand to about the size of a quarter.

Going to shoot out to 400 this weekend.

not much data out on he FTX in .358 Hornaday's new 8th edition is supposed to have the date for it.

i just worked it up off a .200 grain hornady jacketed bullet that had published Data in the Lee manual. Could probably push it a little faster, but i am happy with what i have right now.

I settled on that exact load. Fired about 40 of them and the grouping was nice. Should be a good hunting load. Recoil seemed mild to me and there was absolutely no pressure signs.
