I assume you want clean. If you also want cheap, I recommend the Days Inn at 59 and 98. Nice breakfast, clean rooms, not problems. It's not the Ritz though.

Look into the holiday inn at the 49/i59 intersection. For meals check out Crecebt city grill and brownstone.

The oyster house is closed. The newest hotels are the candlewood inn and suites and the Holiday inn at I59/49. Also there is a new Microtell on 98 in front of Gander Mountain. There is the front porch buffet that is locally owned thats real good, has prime rib on Friday and Satureday nights, leatha is good, Stricks, Dickies BBQ, Robert St John opened a new italian place behind the cresecent city grill in the shopping center. Just opened a Hooters next to the Outback Steak House, also all the motels around outback are pretty good. Just google resturants in hattiesburg and you will find we are over run with them.

I moved from there about 10 years ago so I don't know too much on the new places to eat but I agree with lethas. The candlewood suites is good and so is the days inn.

Its moved. Now it is behind the Stuckey's on 49 NORTH of town. Mexican Kitchen. Used to be on 49 south by wagon wheel right where you turn to go to William Carey.
